I don't know mate. Personally, at 6 I think there's a certain degree of protection of innocence necessary.

I tend toward answering his questions as honest as I can (including "I don't know") and I'm trying to raise him with a healthy curiosity and a desire to self-validate and find his own answers (or at least not to take everything that he's told as absolute truth) which leads to some interesting conversation for sure 😃, I just don't 1) think shooter drills are necessary, effective, or proportional to the risks and 2) don't think teachers are well equipped to sensitively and age appropriately frame, address, or explain individual students fears, and missteps can cause a great deal of anxiety

I don't know. We just put up with it.

I explained to them that reality is that people are crazy. Some are worse than others. Some people just want to hurt others. They want to see the world burn.

Compatibility is crazy you can live with. (That one turned to ashes.)

If there's one thing in this life that is certain, it is not death or taxes. It is that there are no easy answers. Answers come at a price. Odds are, you aren't willing to pay it.

Hate it for you and your kids, but the Sandy Hook kids were that age.
