Pretty rare to see AOC voting the same way as Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz, to be sure.

This will probably go a long way toward reducing the military of QAnon cult members that will also have some overlap with white nationalists and general right wing nut jobs.

Most of the military knuckled under once their jobs were under threat. Funny how that works. It's almost as if the application of governmental power during a public health emergency produces results.

Interestingly, the jarheads seem to be the service branch with the highest proportion of holdouts.

I strongly disagree with the idea of forcing anyone to serve in the military. That concept is really messed up . But if they are going to go it then it should be everyone, not just men.

TBF (and sorry for repeating this) I've often thought this would be the best way to (ahem) disarm the current pro-second amendment lobby. Register every able-bodied adult in the draft and state they've got to be familiar with (for arguments sake) the M9 and non-auto M14. The familiarity could be taught in schools and after that, provided there was no criminal misbehaviour or court-assessed risk to another, the person could then keep one (or both) at home, take them to the range, go hunting and whatnot.

You'd probably massively cut the number of deaths whilst also wiping out almost all of the gun industry and none of it would breach the 2A. You'd even keep the supposed benefits of an armed society that the NRA and its ilk go on about.

It's a cheap publicity stunt. It worked well for Pelosi a few years ago. The Democrats seem to have anticipated the move and brought a fairly effective media strategy to bear to blunt the effects.
