As most here, including me, have noticed, the democrats really need to get their act together. They don't have any messaging for voters, apart from the we're not Trump. And the ways in which Republicans have continued to make voting or voting rules more difficult spells even more trouble.

Agreed. Trump drove massive turnout, on both sides. Without him as the clear enemy on the ballot, it’s easy to see a lot of people who voted Democrat in 2020 being complacent, especially with the next election being “only” a mid-term.

I read the article, but didn’t ever see an actual definition for “Critical Race Theory” as intended by the order. Would be interested to see exactly how they define it. A broad interpretation could basically mean that teaching anything short of white supremacy would effectively be banned.

Most of the bullet points from the governor make it seem as though they want to continue with history being taught the same way it was when most if the people behind the ban learned it, which is anything but “fair and balanced” as the release claims.

FTR, there’s likely to be a lot of similar bans to this one coming in other states. This is just the 21st century version of banning the teaching of Darwin’s theories on evolution. Same states, same types of people, same ass-backwards mindset.

Critical Race Theory is an actual course. Many unis offer it:

That’s why I wanted to know exactly how they are defining it. “Science” is also a course, but depending on where you are in the world, that can entail VERRY different things.

not at uni, where courses are specialised.

but different unis will have different CRT courses, some may even be pretty decent. most however appear to promote a damaging ideology.

University curriculums have nothing to do with this ban. What I want to know is how the FL Board of Education is choosing to define critical race theory as relates to it being taught to grade school children. Obviously specialized CRT was never a course that was on offer to 8 year olds.

it means the tenets of CRT (i.e
America is fundamentally institutionally racist), typically found in most courses, are not allowed to be repeated in schools.
