Let's see 10 years ago they were in the habit of blocking anything Obama and the left wished to put on the table. Going great lengths to do so.

15 years ago they were coming to the end of a a Bush led administration were the only thing on the table was war mongering. Not to forget them supporting Bushes ridiculous tax cut. One of the biggest tax cuts that actually hamstrung the country.

A Republican who didn't lower taxes on the right people and a party that doesn't seem to ever understand that it is ok to spend money as long as it's for the right thing. Cutting taxes and increasing spending was especially prevalent under Bush.

The party who rightly chose McCain but didn't advise him to not pick Palin. One of the dates moves off all time. It's like they didn't want him to win.

Sure let's go.back to those guys

I’ve just read that the jury had not been sequestered. Like it or not, I think they’ve made an arse of this and he will appeal.....I still cannot get my head around that Politicians publicly opened their mouths about this trial while it was ongoing.....

Where did you read the jury was not sequestered when Biden spoke?

I'm sure Chauvin will appeal. Not at all uncommon to try. Biden's comments won't be sufficient grounds to grant one, tho.

They were sequestered once the trial was over and they were in deliberations. It was in this time period that Biden made his comments.

Prior to that the judge had instructed them not to watch, listen, read, etc any news.

The mistrial plea the defense submitted for Rep Waters comments which did occur during the trial (non-sequestered time) was thrown out by the judge as he felt the jury adhered to his instructions to avoid news.

I meant back to some sense of civility and not the extremism. They’re never going to agree with the left but at least before they were looking at leaders like McCain and Romney rather than Trump.

The way they have acted as a party over the last 20 years is in part why they got Trump though. That didn't happen overnight.

They allowed the poor behavior which led to extremism. Which is hilarious in itself. It's not extremism anymore its normal for them. It has been for a long time.

Just ask those that have retired from politics from the GOP. Many of whom over the years have turned on the party they were part of calling it toxic.

Voting restrictions and suppression not forgetting gerrymandering and bs behavior has been their MO for years so excuse me if I find the civility thing a little nauseating.

The party allowed the tea party run wild. It allowed extreme media outlets that backed them become the norm. It depends actual convicted felons when they run and excuses their sexual misconduct. It has been doing this for decades.

These are the phrases most common with them.... "I didn't see it" or "I did t read it" or " I don't have time for that" oh and my personal favorite "but what about the left".

If people keep voting for the same thing and don't care what the result is as long as they own the dems well I would say Trump and his racist, sexist weird brigade was inevitable and the rest of you (if you vote conservative) are culpable for the results.

You can't vote for the party and say but I didn't vote for Trump so there's that and pretend you are not partially responsible.

Again if you don't vote for them think of it in general terms.

My friend I can feel your frustration with the party, and it’s largely justified. Im simply looking at this this way...Would I prefer that they continue pushing further and further away from middle or would I prefer they start moving towards the center and actually be normal and reasonable humans now that Trump is gone? I’ll take the latter. Maybe they’re too far gone as you seem to think, and no one can justify some of the recent moves, especially on the voter suppression front. It’s unjustifiable.

However, I still think politics as a whole are far too polarized and Biden said it well when he stated that not every issue on the table has to be war.

In reading this forum regularly, I’m 1000% sure I’m more middle than most on here, and I have no issue saying I’m a registered independent. I have been since I moved to a new state a few years ago. Have I leaned left on most issues recently and voted left in the last 2 national elections? Yes. Have I also voted for some conservative candidates and policies at a local level recently? Yes. I’m not a fan of the extremism on either side and really do try to do candidate research and vote with what is logical and in line with my beliefs regardless of party affiliation. Some people don’t like that, and that’s fine, but I personally don’t think any issue is ever just black and white. That’s one of the reasons why this forum is great. It’s strangley a more civil place for debate and conversation than the real world now.
 
I’m still unnerved by this Political intervention by Waters and Biden tbh. The cop was a pillock, a man died and he deserved to be put away in prison. No one will deny this. But the concept of Justice is Blind, seems to have gone out of the window. I understand ordinary people getting het up, but I still cannot understand what politicians are doing getting involved. What happens if this guy successfully appeals the court decision as a result. It’s no good saying it can’t happen, because it can and plenty of high price lawyers will be more than happy to make it happen. I fear this still has a way to run.....

I agree they should all have kept their mouths shut until after the verdict had been delivered.

But you didn’t expend half this energy when Trump was doing the exact same thing along with a bunch of Republican politicians for the past four years so it seems a bit odd to suddenly say you are shocked that there is gambling in the casino.

You may be right but it will be ruled a mis trial. New court, new jury, same video evidence, same witnesses. Politicians keep their traps shut. This guy is not going to walk.

Trump just pardoned everyone when he didn’t like the outcome anyways
