Nobody should be surprised that the leadership of the state of Texas is confounding. The illustrious Governor fell for the Jade Helm nonsense and sent Texas National Guard to keep an eye on the US Army - which many people have since publicly stated they believe to be the first big success of Russian/alt-right provocateurs and gave them more confidence to meddle in the 2016 election. The Lite Gov is a certified loon (he's the guy who wanted to sacrifice elderly people to COVID so the American Dream could survive) and the AG is under multiple state indictments and looking at Federal charges since his fawning over the twice impeached now public citizen didn't get him the pardon he sought.
