Given this is Pompeo’s last day in office this seems more like an attempt to cause difficulties for Biden admin than the principled stand it warranted.

The Uighers becoming a major issue to the GOP is as nailed on as their sudden concern for the deficit. Short of a total shutdown of trade Biden will be "doing business with ethnic cleansers" or however they try to brand it. They're the masters of doing things in bad faith.

Probably because the cameras all come out when the confrontation happens. I would be surprised that given the ubiquitous use of camera phones, at any large gathering or occasion, that footage does not come to light showing the preceding events to this.

I presume the police have body cams? How likely is it that those come to light?

Edit: I presume that the couple taken out by the police were on the wrong side of the barriers. No idea what they were up to other than that. No idea if that is considered heavy handed or not by US standards.

As a man and a man of not color I could not agree more. The "old boys club" really needs to go away. Women account for more than 50% of the population in the world and the US and there is something like 20% women in politics at all levels.
