Her claims are risible. She'll need to make a better case to convince me. Until the actual vote takes place for confirmation, we'll get this:

How can she make a better case then please elaborate? Do you expect her to have some video or audio evidence then? How can she make it more appealing for you so you can be convinced.

Politics aside if your own daughter or a member of your family say niece, nephew, cousin etc... or maybe a good friend had a similar story with similar details how would you feel then?

Or are you simply putting party over common sense.

As for the CNN calling thing so what? Fox news don't do the same whenever a liberal steps out of line then?

That's the media for you and it should not matter what they say or do right now.

It matters that a man has been accused of sexual assault by now two women and you just like many conservatives are happy to ignore her to get your man in.

I'll be back Friday.

This is Kavanaugh’s scarlet letter, and I think it was only ever intended to be that in hopes that they find other dirt about him in the process. It’s almost impossible to find proof (especially considering the date), and he is technically innocent until proven guilty.

Curious to see if Ford has something up her sleave as she is against it if she testifies on the court date. The accusations were likely politically motivated (whether they are true or not), so she needs to find a way to distinguish this from a smear campaign. He said she said won’t cut it

Here's the thing... unfortunately this is one word against another, and due to that Kavanaugh shouldn't be denied his role on these accusations alone, because if we set a precedent where people can come out of the woodwork, say whatever - no matter if completely unsubstantiated - and stop something they don't like from happening.

I say all this despite being in a position where if I was put on the spot, I'd have to say I'm fairly sure Kavanaugh is guilty of the accusations coming his way... but there's no proof in terms of substantial evidence.

And to be perfectly honest, all more people coming forward does at this point is make it look like they have an agenda rather than a real complaint. That may or may not be true, but that's the reality of the situation - the complainants are too easy to dismiss as politically motivated.

yea but it's not a trial, It's a job interview. The idea is to establish whether he's of suitable character for a lifetime position.
There's a fair few personal acquaintances who say he's not.
A supreme court judge needs to be beyond reproach.
Also, somehow, the 60 vote approval system needs to be reinstated.

Yeah but it's a public position and therefore can be influenced by making a high profile accusation.

"I don't want that person to do that thing - let's accuse him of being a pedophile 15 years ago."

I think that's a very slippery slope to embark on.

I completely agree, but if there's nothing to this, Kavanaugh should be able to clear his name. It's worth noting that Gorsuch (another Trump appointee) successfully navigated the process.
The only way to fix the system is to turn back the majority vote to a 60 vote majority. This change was brought about by democrats. Then Republicans pulled the Garland stunt.
The process is a joke but it seems like there's definitely fire with this Kavanaugh smoke.

Yep. It comes across as a smear campaign (something very inappropriate probably happened though). The burden of proof lies with the accuser and not the other way around, as it should be

... or this is the very first "#MeToo #NotHim" smear campaign mate - using a currently untouchable 'movement' to attack with.

It's innocent until proven guilty for me, legal process or no. He shouldn't need to clear his name - the accusers, as @Osamabindiesel rightly says, have the burden of proof.

And again, I say all this as someone who politically would very much not like to see him nominated.

Putting the sexual assault stuff aside...
It's also worth noting that he's admitted to underage drinking on a regular basis. This is/was illegal.
It's enough for a mid level gov't employee to fail a background check. Why should it be ok for a supreme court justice. From about 17 to 21, he broke the law on a weekly basis but he wants to sit on the highest court in the land.

I don’t think Ford had any intention of catching Kavanaugh with a guilty verdict. It was a chance for her to pin a horrible label on him and potentially see him thrown out as a candidate.

Unfortunately for her, she won’t get her revenge that way as the Republicans have brushed aside the allegations.
