I'm a New Yorker. The reason why people liked his handling is because of how New Yorkers are. We want someone to be blunt as anything to us. We don't like subtext, we don't like "oh this is going to go away magically". Cuomo didn't do that. He said in no uncertain terms what was going on, what had happened and what they were trying to do. He wasn't perfect but I have enough family and friends left there that thought his approach is exactly what the state needed.
