Huge number of Kurds in my town, many that I know through soccer. A few of them still have relatives who had fought with the US to defeat ISIS; in fact, the Kurd-controlled zone was the only zone where no US soldier died at the hands of ISIS. It is shameful and disgusting how the Kurds have been treated by Saddam and then by Turkey and then by the USA. And they come here and are further discriminated against in either overt or structural ways: the woman who cares for our son has a Ph.D. in chemistry but can only get work at a day care center. So heartbreaking.
I've had a few "discussions" with bible thumbing Trumpers that are on board with the withdrawal. I got a lot of spluttering nonsense and whataboutism once I brought up what was likely to happen to all the Christians in the Kurdish controlled zone now that their safe haven was gone. I guess Christian persecution is invalidated by brown skin.
It's important to be the "right kind" of Christian.

TBH it is amazing how little faith the religious right in the US have that God exists.
