Yes of course - but I think in the context of what I was replying to, it was pretty clear that I meant the criminal penalties

Oh yes agree, but by doing that and threatening the doctors, then they are much more likely to refuse and then that leaves the woman forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term. Her life sentance could be keeping a child she didnt want/couldt afford/was in no state to care for etc.

Nowhere in this, or any bill they are trying to pass, is any reference to a father role or responsibilities in all of this.

Absolute dogs wanting a war with our Moshiris mother land. Iran would kick thier rear end anyway.

Aye, it’s despicable in every way.

The point about IVF just proves that all their “protect the children” hand wringing is absolute unadulterated BS too.

One of those Alabama senators behind the abortion bill is an OBGYN and he sure does seem concerned about the health of mothers and kids.
The state senator from Sheffield and practicing OB/GYN was sued last month following the death of twin babies. The lawsuit, filed by Raymond and Julie Ann Shultz, claims Stutts’ negligence was to blame. Stutts was Julie Ann’s OB/GYN.
Specifically, the lawsuit says Stutts dismissed Julie Ann’s complaints of pain and bleeding, along with other signs of preterm labor, resulting in the Shultzes’ twins being born at just 24 weeks.
..
It started with the third bill he introduced — to repeal a law created when one of his patients died following childbirth. (Oh, and just a BTW here: he was sued over that death too, and eventually settled with deceased’s husband.) That bill, which repealed a law that required insurance companies to cover a minimum two-night hospital stay following childbirth,
...
At the same time, and with the same bill, Stutts also drew the ire of the breast cancer lobby, because his bill also repealed a law requiring that women be notified by letter if a mammogram indicates dense breast tissue.

What infuriates me the most about these laws (I say these as Missouri have now passed a similar bill) is not even the morals, religious beliefs behind it or the attempt to exert control over women and their bodies. Its the fact that these 'pro life' people are not bothered that these kids could end up in poverty, go hungry, end up in the care system, be abused, have painful medical conditions, grow up unloved or even die - they don't blink an eye. They show so much concern for an unborn baby (and foetus), yet don't give a flying eff about the child from the day its born. If they showed as much care and compassion to actual living children, I could understand (although still disagree) with them passing the bill but there is nothing 'pro life' about them.

Its grotesque in every way.

It's pro birth not pro life. They don't give a single crap about the kids after they are born. Besides, look at where those States are in education. What better a way to get people to believe you when it's not YOUR fault you are poor, it's them liberals and immigrants when you are too dumb to know the difference. There had been a fundamental lack of critical thinking taught in the school system for decades. People born in to placed like this are the ones that loudly cheer an idiot who says that there won't be any power when the wind isn't blowing it it's night time.

A Republican Missouri legislator said the majority of sexual assaults are either “date rapes or consensual rapes” during a debate in the State House over a bill that would ban abortions at eight weeks. The GOP-controlled House passed the bill shortly after.

Hovis later told a reporter from the Kansas City Star that he misspoke, and echoed that “there is no such thing as consensual rape.” His office did not immediately respond to a call and email from The Washington Post.
