Yup. I’d be surprised if he makes it to next Friday. He reminds me so much of a guy who lived in my freshman hall in college who has advanced quite far in the Democratic Party in Virginia and would spout the most vile racist nonsense. God help us if he becomes Governor someday

1 million for a coach? Try 3-8M/year for the top 60 football schools. Assistant coaches make 1M/year (a few 2M/year).
To be fair, the top 60 football schools generate enough revenue from athletics to support paying coaches such salaries. But I certainly understand the larger point.

Here in Texas the issue for students has been an unwillingness by the government to continue subsidizing tuition as they did before. When I was in school the state subsidized all public universities to the tune of around 80% of the cost and the state set rates for tuition. Now the schools set their own rates and subsidy has shrunk to a fraction of what it once was. My son's final semester tuition was 15 times what I paid in the 80s. Even so, it is still relatively inexpensive to attend college in Texas v most state schools. He had several friends paying out of state tuition rates of $35,000 per year (before housing costs) because it was cheaper than in-state rates back home.

Criminally stupid public policy.
