By all accounts California appears to have a significant number of people who have left over the last 10 years or so.

What's suprising though from what I read is that many end up in Texas.

The thought of Texas leaving the hands of the GOP should be scary enough for the GOP to sort themselves out over the next year or so.

Per Census, in 2017 the net positive migration to Texas from California was ~21,000. Much more significant was the net positive migration to Arizona (~36,000) and Idaho (~15,000) given they are far smaller states in overall population than Texas.

With the death of John McCain AZ is truly purple...and likely a blue shade of purple.

McSally ran her Senate campaign as a Trumpian Repulican...Sinema took a far more centrist approach.

Border walls and immigrant scaremongering won't work anymore in AZ.

This is very smart politics, and given the utter thick-headedness of the DCCC, a real threat to the Democratic Party.

If the Republicans actually pursue this, and Trumpism morphs instead into a demagogue with a brain, who can brand the Dems with even more authority as the party of Woke Capitalism, then the game is over for us all

That could be - because national and local donors are very carefully not writing her any checks at the moment - neither for a presidential bid nor a congressional bid. She's got to keep the campaign technically alive so she can hopefully collect a little campaign cash if she can find some deluded donors.
