I've got to do this next month. Read through it and can't help thinking it's come straight from a cold war spy thriller. What's gonna make it more ridiculous is that hardly anyone charged with training it or monitoring it doesn't think it's impractical and stupid.
Not sure how extensive it is, and I was surprised I have been told to do it as I don't work with children, but basically you are supposed to monitor attitudes within any training environment to identify possible openness to radicalisation. I don't know the extent to which it is effecting the workplace in general. Or even if I've paraphrased it very well. I'll look for a better summary.Could someone give me a bit more info on what the "prevent training" consists of?
I'd honestly never heard of it until perusing this thread this morning

Yep. Some of the phrasing is really cold war sci Fi stuff. It implies you'd be doing it for their good etc.. got to hope it's just empty rhetoric but I'm sure a few zealots will be reporting any pupil who talks back to themSo it's like a weird modern version of McCarthyism then?

Ours was about 1hr 45mins of openly bigoted attitude towards peoples of certain colour and/or ethnicity, sprinkled with the blaming of parents and certain communities for not doing enough to stop kids from being vulnerable; interspersed with the odd comment on how the far right might also be a threat. I seem to remember that you have to keep an eye out for tired kids who've been up all night playing online shoot em ups, as the interwebs is a popular grooming ground.Could someone give me a bit more info on what the "prevent training" consists of?

Yes. There was a part of an American film were a kid was asked to make a speech about 9/11 and ended up with the FBI breaking into her home and family split up. Be interested to know if it was based on experiences. You got to hope nobody would stand for it here. The whole thing seems ripe for abuse to be honest
Any idea what happens if you just refuse to take it.Ours was about 1hr 45mins of openly bigoted attitude towards peoples of certain colour and/or ethnicity, sprinkled with the blaming of parents and certain communities for not doing enough to stop kids from being vulnerable; interspersed with the odd comment on how the far right might also be a threat. Yeah, spying on kids is definitely something that represented tyranny in the past. Pretty sure that's how they'd see it themselves in any other circumstance.Probably be ridiculed for this, have been before, but 'spying' on your countrymen was something the nazis brought in. There are so many similarities between this conservative governments ideology and that of the 3rd Reich, at the least the methodology is very similar.
