Gareth Barry

There's being out of your depth then there's that. Spurs have probably got the most athletic midfield in the league in Dembele and Wanyama with full backs and forwards who press better than anyone.

Why in God's name was Gareth Barry on the pitch? He's a calming influence at home to poor sides, but to play him at Spurs away after Schneiderlin, Gueye and Davies have looked to good together was a truly baffling decision.

Gana was playing a pressing role which would work against a team that doesn't move the ball well. He was out of position and I think that affected his game a bit.
Pressing? Would you call Ganas effort on Harry Kane during the 1-0 goal as pressing? No one with a blue shirt pressed a single Tottenham player yesterday. It was all passive defensive play which was infuriating too see, especially when the team was trailing 1-0. When Everton managed to get the ball back then you had the even worse ball deliveries to Lukaku. Nothing worked yesterday tbh and it is amazing that the result even ended with a 3-2. loss

Barry was not the problem yesterday it was more the approach to the game that was a bit too careful from Koemans side, especially considering the good run the team had.

Gana was playing down field. He had to come back because the tactic was obviously not working. Even the pundits set Gana was playing an advanced role.

Can we rename this thread " Wayne Rooney" its the precise same sentiment he we will receive

He's well suited to playing a slower paced opponents. His ability to sniff out danger and look out for a killer pass is still prevalent.

Sir Alex always had a good feel about when to put on his way too olds. We need to use Barry the same way.

...sponsors MoM I understand and Schneiderlin full of praise for him in his after-match interview.
He was good today. He was excellent in his last home start (V City) he is also clearly the type of player who struggles with coming in from the cold, but once back into the rhythm is just fine. As proven last week, followed by this week.
