He never played against Swansea, we still looked dreadful.

Can we say we looked better because Mori never started?

I think the answer is we decided to turn up after half an hour and the crowd got behind the team. It was a great team performance in the end from everyone, Barry not being in the starting eleven was not the reason for the win last night.
Some good points. but would we have won the game if he had started ahead of mccarthy ?

Against sides we can expect to dominate, he should play.

Against teams who play with pace in the middle, he can't be a guaranteed starter. We need legs in there to press and set the tempo like we did last night.

I honestly couldn't say.

But, he should keep the same team ( except for Jags for obvious reasons ) for Monday.
Yep I agree pal. Barry off the bench with 20 left to close the game out could be vital but we need high energy from the start to ensure we in the game still

Class still he hasn't been the reason we have been poor, think them wingers helped the most constantly pressed and everyone played better barkely coleman baines etc

If he can't play the game we played last night ,and I don't believe he can, then he can only be a squad player at best. Last night we played the way Koeman has been urging us to play all season. That team should be the first 11 going forward.
Moreover we should either use Davies or buy a player to cover Gana's absence.
Barry has been good for us but I believe now that his time has passed.

I do think though that we would have struggled to have pressed as hard as we did and Barkely wouldn't have controlled the game for us if he had started, not his fault - he's near 36 and obviously can't get around like he used to be able too.

Hopefully last night was the changing of the guard as faras him being an automatic starter and he goes into a tactical sub type role now, still got a lot too offer - especially as that would keep his legs a lot fresher.

Or we could send him on last minute of the derby to destroy Mane or Firminho

A class act indeed, but time catches up with the best of them.

I think that in recent games it isn't that he has been playing badly, it's that he hasn't been playing well...if that makes sense.

I think that he has not had the influence on games that he was having previously. He was going nothing wrong but wasn't controlling the game or driving the team forward. To me, he looked like a player making sure that he was not doing anything wrong rather than making sure that everyone else was performing well.
Yes, he did make the first goal against Watfor, but was it a brilliant ball or a hoof forward ?
