Second season where he should be used for certain games and not others due to his age and his pace but instead because of awful backing hasn't been replaced.

I like him and agree here.

However I am in favour of bringing Schneiderlin in to help phase him out, which is inevitable in the future obvs.

Today's proved what I've thought for ages. A large part of why we were so awful is this fella - too slow to press, never shows any real passion or desire, always standing around NEA. He was good under Martinez because we didn't play a pressing game and instead played a possession game which is what suits him best. However he does not in any way fit Koeman's mould.

Very difficult, he is fantastic at what he does but he makes us an extremely negative side. There will be some difficult decisions going forward.

Totally agree. He slows us down so much. I mentioned it here before. Some people call him an intelligent player. He really is but he is passed it. He slows our whole game down. He has consistently started in our worst run of form. Koeman needs to start Mccarthy and gana for 4/5 matches. Let's see how they get on. Can't be worse than last 2 months. Barry will have his uses in particular games at particular times if needed to come on.

Unfortunately I agree, it was glaringly obvious against Watford, we looked much more mobile in the middle of the park tonight.

Not missed at all ...tempo was better and we didn't concede his standard 3 edge of box free kicks that will normally cost us a goal

I've said it for a while now we needed this fella out the side. Replace Mccarthy with a Schneiderlein/Nzonzi type player and our midfield would be ace with Gueye and Barkley making up a CM 3.

Got to agree with all these comments, he plays far too deep, he's too slow and he slows our game down, worryingly Koeman says he's looking after him.

Got to agree with the consensus on here. He might look good when he plays but I really think it's been at the team's expense.

So much more energy about us tonight. I'm not a huge McCarthy fan but he got about Arsenal in a way Barry never could.
