Massive well done to the club by the way, whoever's doing the transfer negotiations (I have a sneaking suspicion who) should pat themselves on the back. Haggling over £2m like we're still beggars for a player we're in absolute desperate need of, causing us to play a crippled old man and get dumped out of the cup at the first hurdle. We'll sign him on Monday now, but it's too late, the season is gone before our eyes.

I agree, but I also expected us to throw today as sadly we did.

I think we are aiming to compete in the league first and foremost.

Let's be honest this team is crap. We need an overhaul in every area. It will take 2 to 3 years to get the team firing and hopefully by then we will have the docks stadium underway and Usmanov in the boardroom with Moshiri.

Hopefully today will be the last time we see Barry start a game, or feature for more than the odd few minutes as a late sub.

He is finished.

Isn't that exactly what a team parking the bus needs to do?

He is not fine in any situation at this level. He's done.
No. Parking the bus means making it as difficult as possible to enter the 18 yard box. We don't necessarily play that way, so Barry ends up in no man's land because he can't chase players down. He can cover for the back four and play deep, but Koeman likes to win possession.

But he can't do that because he can't shift his knackered legs from A to B no matter where he is on the pitch. He is no use to us whatsoever when the opposition have the ball, because they just glide past him as if he isn't even on the pitch in the first place. He's the reason we lost the derby and the reason we were abysmal against Hull and today. Because we were a man down in all of them.

Schneiderlin is a priority, we need player in midfield who can play. Barry has been a great servant to Everton and the club or indeed Barry himself should not be allowed to ruin the status in which he is held by playing I'm when he is no longer capable of doing the job which is required.
In an absurd way the players may have done us fans a favour today; if they had turned up and won comfortably could the powers that be within the club have started thinking, we only need to tinker with the team. We don't need to spend a fortune to get ourselves into a position where we can compete. Today has shown that none of these players has earned the right to wear the blue shirt of Everton.
We need a root and branch change, there are players out there who will give more to our club than those who have been here for years and seem to have missed the point in what it means to be playing for a team with our history.
There are players in our squad that if we can't sell I would sack.
