I actually preferred beric dondarrion even in the book, they've just been proper fobbed off, with great actors playing facinating multi layered characters like stephen dillane and richard dormer wasted, while we endure boring scenes of the moaning teen chick and her dragons, alongside that weapon playing dario a lot less well than the other guy

yeah ser friendzone and barristan were the only interesting thing in the portrayal of merieen, the tv writers focus is solely on its pretty characters now dragon lady and jon snow, with the dwarf for comic relief (another character they misinterpreted, and would of offered peter dinklage a greater challenge had they not)

First episode was OK, nothing special. Thst is what I don't like about these types of show. You wait all year and you get a catch up to the previous episode rather than any meaningful plot being added. Now grand, something happened in dorne but without explaining it, it makes zero sense to do thst story wise
All that will stretch one side far too much and I can't imagine it being fun to watch it swinging back and forth.
they are going to make Kings landing go to war with dorne over the daughter yet the north want to attack Kings landing and the sparrows need taking care of all at the same time. It's like a rehash of the second and third series

Haha, the TV show has made Doran out to be weak and unaware of the plots against him. When, in the book he always knew what was happening and had been plotting for a long time to get his revenge against the Lannisters. They have done him a disservice.

I would imagine they have done it this way to raise the profile of the sand snakes to make them into credible characters after last seasons non direction.

aye, that whole storyline just feels tacked on just to include that part of the world into the series. Unless the lanisters go to war with them then there is zero reason for them to be in the show.
