Well , I don't want to give too much away, but it's so she can develop her senses to superhuman levels, launch a new fighting style, grow a beard and long hair and go around calling everybody "Grasshopper"

Seems the reviews for this go from 'awesome' and 'spectacular way to open the season' to 'crap' 'awful' 'why bother'.
Me, I thought it was very meh. I do not like the Dorne element. Nor do I like the sparrows at all. I find it all very boring and want to switch off when that stuff is going on.
Need to focus on the Wall, Jon, Mel and Davos.

I'm trusting those storylines are going somewhere, but they're both pretty new. The Wall has been developing since the first moment of the show. Give it some time, I'd say.
It was really just all setup, but I guess that's to be a bit expected from the first episode of a season. Not going to pass judgement until we see a couple more.
The amount of simultaneous storylines running right now seems unsustainable, so hopefully we'll get them merging fast.
found it funny that considering the show is called game of thrones, the person actually sitting on the throne at the moment did not feature at all in the very first episode 
I think they are butchering the Dorne story line.
"Those damn Lannisters killed the Princess of Dorne and the Prince of Dorne's brother, so in response, we shall kill the Prince of Dorne and his only son, that will teach them!"

dorne in the books seemed much more real and intresting, the show once again get it all wrong . Martell is supposed to be fat and ugly and one of the most intresting later characters. Just constant sexing it up with badass female edgy characters with one liners. Great stuff

Thought overall it was a good first episode, wrapped up a lot of the 'what happened there' of the last season's finale. Don't think anything will get sorted with Jon Snow until episode 3 or 4.
Dorne is awful tho, makes no sense.
Also loved the Sansa part where literally 5 minutes before Reek/Theon was telling her Ramsey's hounds are terrible, yet when the fighting happens, they literally disappear.

indeed, I would the assume the budget has grown larger as the popularity has, but the show actually feels a lot cheaper, I'm not convinced they knew what they were doing with the source material, and completely misinterpreted great characters, but without it I fear the worstdorne in the books seemed much more real and intresting, the show once again get it all wrong . I honestly thought it was too focused on tying up loose ends.
Needed a bit more plot to drive the episode, instead of jumping from place to place without really achieving anything other than letting the watchers know what happened to their fave characters.
Loose ends build suspense, would like to have seen a few more left open then resolved later.

Stannis and Dorne have basically been torn up and shat on.
Great storylines like the resurrected Catelyn and faux Targ prince have been shunted off to no mans lad.
