i cant remember, next week will be more exciting as you can cross them off as you see them, you could even make your own alive/dead chart..should keep you busy
An astonishingly high number of characters survived this episode, from side characters that many fans had totally written off like Grey Worm to pretty much everyone in the Winterfell crypts — even though there was a brief dead uprising there, too.

**** SPOLIER **** I DONT KNOW HOW TO SPOLIER THINGS ****

So here’s the much happier list of characters we know survived the battle:
Jon Snow

Though he was pleasingly useless through most of the fight and had several extremely close calls, Jon still lived to see another episode.
Daenerys Targaryen

Despite having a bafflingly terrible battle plan and winding up separated from her dragon and fighting for her life amid a crowd of wights, Dany made it out alive thanks to the bravery and sacrifice of her pal Ser Jorah.
Jaime Lannister

Fighting bravely alongside Brienne, Jaime ultimately was just fine.
Brienne of Tarth

Both Jaime and Brienne had a few close calls during the battle, but when the ice army shattered to pieces, they were still standing.
Arya Stark

Game of Thrones’ erstwhile Arya Underfoot proved to be the key to the entire fight — and she’ll live to tell the tale.
Bran Stark

Despite randomly warging away for, like, half an hour to follow the Night King around for no apparent reason, Bran came back to himself just in time to watch Theon die, say hi to the Night King — and then watch Arya ice the Night King, for real. Kid never even broke a sweat.
Sansa Stark

Though Sansa originally wanted to be where the fighting was, Arya ordered her to hide in the crypts — which proved the safest place for her, in spite of the dead rising there too.
Tyrion Lannister

Tyrion was also in the crypts, where he got to spend a couple of lovely moments bonding with Sansa over how useless they both were in the battle — and while he was prepared to die protecting the others, in the end, he (thank goodness!) didn’t have to.
The Hound

If you were one of the many Game of Thrones fans whose dearest wish going into the Battle of Winterfell was to see the Hound and Arya saving one another’s lives and fighting together like old pals before both walking away in one piece, this episode delivered. Though the Hound did freak out and nearly gave up at one point, watching Arya fight with all her might inspired him to dive back into the fray. Well done, Ser Sandor.
Gendry

We barely got to see Gendry fight, but from what we did see, the dude can handle himself. It seems he came out of the battle with nary a scratch.
Davos Seaworth

Davos was another character who barely got to see any action. He was standing tall as the ice melted.
Samwell Tarly

Sam has come a long way, and despite his clear terror, he kept fighting bravely through the battle. Lucky for him, he also fought near several other much stronger soldiers, including Edd and Jorah, who saved his neck and later lost their own.
Gilly

Gilly and her son waited it out with the others in the crypt, and were safe.
Tormund Giantsbane

Tormund the Wildling fought and survived alongside his crush Brienne, so he can continue to awkwardly flirt with her and regale us with stories about being breastfed by a giant when he was a baby.
Podrick Payne

Brienne’s faithful young squire was with her in the heat of battle — which proved a great place to be, since he too made it out alive.
Grey Worm and Missandei

These two lovebirds both survived — Grey Worm managed to remain safe above ground, while Missandei stuck it out in the crypts.
The tiny and defiant bread line girl from the previous episode

We know you were wondering; yes, the cute kid who said she’d defend the crypts is also just fine — though she did wind up covered in blood, she’s unscathed.
Drogon and Rhaegal (Dany’s remaining two dragons)

Drogon suffered a hell of an attack from the wights during the battle, and retreated in order to literally shake off a cadre of wights and perhaps heal his wounds. But he didn’t seem to be too injured, and he was well enough to fly, so we’re calling him safe until we see evidence to the contrary. Rhaegal seemed to make it through uninjured.
Ghost (Jon’s direwolf)

Ghost showed up in the opening scenes of the episode, charging into battle alongside the Dothraki. But he then apparently peaced out along with Jorah and some of the other riders who returned, as he briefly appears in the preview for episode four.

Well Jon is - but just due to how the whole king thing is - so is Gendry really...

Personally I still think Danerys will die, John will be rightful king - but not want the throne due to either a) having done is time and it's time to die again or b) wanting to be just king of the north - and he'll give the throne to Gendry with Arya at his side.

Gendry is a [Poor language removed] though so he would not necessarily be a legitimate heir to the throne. But with all the legitimacy in the world the throne is only held by those with the strength to hold it, strength trumps legitimacy everytime. Robert Baratheon had no claim to the throne until he took it, Stannis Baratheon may have had the most legitimate claim afterward but could not muster the strength to claim it. The Iron Islands may have had a legitimate claim to independence from the Iron Throne but Balon Greyjoy couldn't hold it.

I think Bran will warn of another threat from beyond the wall in a thousand years time and Jon Snow will agree to rejoin the Night's Watch as Aegon Targaryen to rebuild for the future, giving up his claims to the throne and further legitimising Danerys's claim on the condition that Sansa be named Queen of The North.

And then Cersei smashes them all anyway!

you seem to have forgotten this guy....

at one point he literally gave up fighting and said what is the point

Guessing at some point him and his brother The Mountain go at it again.

A lot of WARHAMMER on here today.

It's a fun drama with Dragons and Knights just appreciate the episode and the production value.

That's the issue some have though, including myself. It wasn't just a "fun drama" like so many TV shows where you always know that in the end the favoured characters will come out of it OK, against all odds, and the hated ones die.

Ned Stark lost his head, there was the Red Wedding and loads of other shock storylines.

I think Jaime surviving the Dragon fire when Bron saved him, was the start of the show going away from what made it so good. It's now missing that unique feel that makes it shocking. Some of those scenes in the recent episode were ridiculous.

There were still some very good moments though and it looks like they are going to save up some of the heart wrenching deaths to be inflicted by Cersei rather than the Night King. The way it's going though, Cersei will be killed off with ease, and most of the favourites will still be there, surviving ridiculous odds just to keep people happy. Hope I am wrong, and there are some shocking moments to come.

Dany has an army, I mean the whole North didnt die, they will join her, I mean they aint the dothraki or the unsullied, but they will do.

Daenerys will have to do a deal with Sansa for the North to get their support... Although Dany may yet have to bend the knee to Jon (Sam has ready asked the question as to whether she'd be willing to do so).... It's back to the politics side of GOT now which I prefer over the whitewalker stuff...

did Samwell tarley survive ??

can someone please name all the survivers please as it was hard to tell who got banjo'd and who didnt

He did... He shouldn't have, and it's getting annoying how many times they've teased his death... He can't fight, no way he should have survived... Same with Davos..... Same with the Hound when he froze again....

All the main characters in the front line should have died too...

Well... not necessarily

The Hound's story will end against his brother. It was always gonna be that way, you'd think.

Davos and Sam I actually understand living more than the others.

Breanne/Jamie/Bran - it feels like if one or two of those would have gone (even though I actually consider Breanne and Bran more supporting characters than anything else) then it would have hit home a bit more.

Or... and this is genuinely when I felt more peril for the characters than at any other point (and tbf that's saying something) was down in the crypts with that scene between Sansa and Tyrian. I actually thought they were going to kill each other at one point - like a final pact thing.

I just think old GoT would have pushed it that much further. That much more into despair. It doesn't mean they couldn't have had a similar ending, but I think ending they did have would have been felt more.

There was so much danger and death and peril in the episode, it just feels lacking because that peril somehow didn't effect the main players as much as it should have done, really.

As it is, it's basically like everyone really important (and the ones in the main mostly important to them) survived. The exceptions Theon and Jorah but both of those characters had gone full circle really and there wasn't particularly anywhere to go with them.

It's why I was also predicting Breanne would go, as I felt in the last episode that they basically had her story sewn up by making her a knight.
