"Roberto believes the league is more wide open than ever"

I read that this morning and a smile beamed on my face from one ear to the other. Early days, I know but who is the only team unbeaten in the top flight after 5 games? What team, under the floodlights at a hostile Goodison Park have the chance to make it 6? Everton is the answer and it fills me with the utmost optimism, delight, ambition and desire. Our squad is the most determined I've seen it in a long time, players on the fringe are pushing on more and proving there is no guaranteed places in our starting XI. Steven Naismith is putting in better performances and is proving to be a player that a lot us have doubted. We have a centre forward who will terrorise the hardest of centre backs, player who studies the game and learns player weaknesses. We have quality in every area on the field when in previous years we had areas to work on and improve. Roberto has proved to be a world class manager early on by strengthening a squad that lost a very strong midfielder. Going out of the League Cup is unfortunate but it is important to carry on as professionals and put in a high end performance against Newcastle, followed by a tough away trip to Man City before we break up for another international. It would be the greatest feeling in a long time if we entered the international stage 7 games unbeaten in the top flight and send a massive message out to the world. Not quite a message saying that "Everton are back" but more of a message saying "Everton are on their way."

World Class? I'm all for the optimism but that's way OTT at this stage & bordering on kopite levels of bollocks that Mick.

LOL.

Lets just hope the same sense of optimism for the season is not knee-jerked away if we draw/lose tonight. The league is open with freak results around United/WBA, Villa/City. Tonight is by no means a guaranteed win.

Having said that, i do fancy us

Same here.

They've won 2 out of their last 3 in the league & have enough quality to cause us problems if they turn up.

If we did get turned over tonight there'd be some quality comments in the match thread I'm sure

was tempted to stop readin there tbh. Seems to have conned people with 2 goals but im not buying it, the lads complete horse 5hit.

Went on to mention world class? Look i love RM as much as the next lid but thats a step too far atm.

Draws against West Brom,Cardiff and Norwich

WERLD CLASS DAT LAD HES DER BEST IN DER WERLD YAWN

I know a top drawer manager when I see one and I see one. I didn't expect so much negativity in here but when I watch each game I am always thrilled by bits of skill or lovely passing etc. I see a great team in the making, yes it's gonna take time and you know in about 2 years when we are playing Champions league football I will bump this thread and laugh.

Forget about the goals, he works tirelessly every minute he's on that pitch, he has heart and he does a good job. I'm fed up of hearing people slate him now, you probably don't even watch him.

The replies in this thread shows me a lot about your personalities. Glass half empty type people. Always looking for faults and can't see the ambition I visualise and determination. My characteristics shine through, I'm positive. No offence, but I'm fed up of hearing the same old "mediocrity"
