There’s a lot of people getting ‘outraged’ and people being ‘outraged’ at the ‘outrage’ when it’s just a selective few twitter accounts and in truth no one really cares.
Still think it’s unacceptable for a white person to have dreads though, largely cos they look silly, are likely to never wash and be called Tarquin or Delilah. Probs see them a few years down the line managing an estate agents. Except the old ones that go full rogue and walk around with dogs led by twine.

As soon as I hear the term "cultural appropriation" I switch off.

It gets used by one of two types of people.

Type 1: The very rare "Im sure you're a great laugh at a party" kind of person who thinks it's a thing and crusades about it on twitter (or possibly writes for the Guardian)

The equally joyful "white men are endangered" types who actively seek the Type 1s to seethe at. Both types live in a self-perpetuating cycle fuelled by the Type 2s' conviction that they are surrounded on all sides by Type 1s even though they probably number in the tens.

News agencies do this all the time now. Even more reputable ones. Creating stories out of nothing then using Twitter to validate or emphasise their points. ‘twitter went into meltdown’ ‘twitter erupted’ etc etc.
It’s a cycle of nothingness.

I don’t agree with “free speech”, for instance I would ban the term “politically correct” because as far as I can see in today’s society anything political is far from correct.

There are some instances where it makes sense. There is/was a DJ called Joey Negro who used that moniker for years and he is white - not really needed. Anyway, he has now changed his name to his real name; Tim Lee.

I assumed he was black until I found out he wasn't. Same with Black Madonna; another white DJ.
