Frank Lampard

Chelsea have been losing games they should have been winning, so clearly something is going wrong there.

When you consider that Juan Mata is on a lot less than Lampard, that 150k per week could arguably spent far better.

Obviously something is going wrong but I don't think you can put any blame on someone who has scored 11 goals in 9 starts unless he's literally giving the ball to the opposition or letting them walk through the midfield which he clearly isn't.

He does more than just score goals. He's an excellent passer and he always does his shift. His return for this season is excellent too and he's played a lot deeper in a more disciplined role too for a lot of it.

Everybody talks about how professional he is so whoever gets him will get a couple of years out of him.

His passing stats this season are worse than Leon Osman's.

Mate, I know you take that way of looking at the game quite serious but I don't think they tell you much where football is concerned personally. Useful for analyzing physical performance but that's about it IMO.

If every pass Lampard tried was a killer ball splitting a defence and his sucess rate was 20% I'd take that all day over a player like Osman who plays largely in front of defences.

Allen is bad because he does nothing but pass the ball, but for a person with 'great passing ability' being beaten out by Leon Osman is a bit gash.

What they don't prove is who is the better player overall.

They mean nothing.

A player can have a 100% pass completion rate and do nothing, whereas another player can complete 10% of his which are all defense-splitting passes that create goals.

If you're looking at stats then Leon Britton is a better passer than Iniesta.

They're not though, unfortunately. He does very little for long periods of matches.

People are blinded by the goals he scores. There is far more to being a central midfielder in the Champions League or Premiership than scoring worldies ffs.

Gerrard scored 9 goals last season but was utter gash for the majority of it.

I did like the fact that there was a thread complaining about our lack of pace and then one about people wanting Lampard next to each other in the Everton Forum, thankfully they didn't merge otherwise GOT would have exploded for good.
