Frank Lampard

No resale value, not enough left in the legs, comparably massive contract and we'd have to build a side around him for him to be any use at all.

I sort of see what Chang Elephant means because he offers very little other than his poachers instinct. In quite a few games you can go 90 minutes and not realise he was playing. There's wouldn't be that much difference between bringing Lampard in and bringing Cahill back for that reason (except obviously Lampard is the better player).

I wouldn't like to see us go for him as it would be a "headline" signing that would disguise any proper signings we could make instead - or disguise big sales. Another Gazza or Ginola, albeit a higher quality one.

He'd fit straight into our midfield & if the only time I noticed his presence was when he hit the back of the net with his 1 in 3 average, I'll take it. (not that I agree with that btw)

Did you notice him at all other than the two goals he scored against us in that game? I think even his biggest fans admit that he's not a workhorse in midfield. He relies on clever movement and the ability of good players in a cohesive team. I don't think he'd be half as effective in an Everton side; in fact, I think the boo boys will be on his back pretty quickly when he does a Saha. Because for all Saha's faults, his movement was always good, but his pace wasn't.

In a Moyes' team, Lampard would be asked to contribute to all phases of play and he simply won't/can't do that anymore; if indeed he ever has. And I'm a Lampard fan!

If he could replicate that and came on a low wage, sure, but I don't think his hunger would be there and we're far and away from being the retirement home for footballers anymore.

Lampard will jet off to LA Galaxy or enjoy a holiday in Spain. He won't play for another Premier League club outside of London anyway. He never has, which is the number one reason this is shoddy journalism.

We'll agree to disagree mate, as Lampard would be a great aquisition for EFC imo, but it's a moot point anyway, as we can agree on the fact that there's **** all chance he'll end up here.

Great at clubs where's he's allowed a free role to do **** all other than shoot at goal, carried by the other players. Would be extra bad here, Neville and Osman don't even do enough to justify their own selection.

I suspect you play mate rather than look at stats, you're absolutely spot on.

One look at him watching the game pass him by as he plods aimlessly for england hints at what he's about. Away from the comfort zone of 10 others dominating the game he gets done for pace and overrun in midfield which even the odd goal doesn't disguise.

Think Michael Owen and Beckham away from Liverpool and Utd and there it is - good for snapshots with granny and fck all else.

More chance of me signing - I'm 46, got a Leroy Fer knee and a couple of dodgey discs in my back !!!

Cant wait to pull that shirt on next season!!!!!

Off-topic I know but who's been the better player Stevie Starfish or Fat Frank?

On the subject I'm sure I read he was joining LA Galaxy.

With a heavy heavy heart I would say Gerrard is comfortably a better player then Lampard. I'm not anti-lampard he is the best in the league at what he does which is come alight in front of goal. Thats not being rude or disrespectful, I just think that just like Tim Cahill, when you take the goals away you are left with an OK midfielder at best

Mixed feelings about this - no doubt that he is a quality player and if it a choice between Osman's half hit pi$$ poor attempt on the edge of the penalty area or a fat frank effort then there's no argument needed
Also we have got close to a Top 4 place with a midfield containing Phil Neville who offers less than nothing. So again if its a choice between paying Frank £80k a week with no resale or giving Neville £40k/week with no resale then again you would have Frank every day of the week
Would he come - depends what he is looking for ? Of the clubs he is linked with we would be the only club who would practically guarantee him a game every week and maybe that would be a bigger motivator for him
Getting Moyes to sign is more important IMO
