Francis Jeffers a childhood hero & heart breaker?

I didn't say he had a good career, I said he had talent

Debateable. Footy players need good mental attributes too.

What kind of talent does it take for a striker to play 69 games for Sheff. Weds in the championship and score 9 goals? Reckon I could do better than that.

I agree, but the kid had talent, he wasn't crap at footy, you could could say the same for billy kenny

I guess no one was heart broken then!

I was very disappointed mate. I think I'd got past the 'heartbroken at an Everton players departure' stage at that point. There's no shame in it though, there's always that one player who you idolise and who you are gutted to see go. Everyone has one. Younger fans were in tears when Arteta went, for example.

My one was Duncan Ferguson, which for me was even more galling as he genuinely did not want to leave and he was sold against his will and behind the managers back.

The fact is, his departure directly led to Peter Johnson resigning from the club and putting the club up for sale immediately, because so many people kicked off including Walter Smith who threatened to resign if Johnson didn't go, so at least some good came from it.

I love Dunc mate, but seeing as Smith supposedly never wanted to sell him, who put the gun to his head and forced him to sign a contract with Newcastle?

I remember him playing in the 2000/01 season, and the talk was Rife that he wanted out again, and he went up against an oppositions member and having spent the whole game doing absolutely nowt, went down like a sack of spuds, and began clutching his shoulder, blatantly wasn't injured, just didn't wanna get injured and miss out on a move.

The agent turned his head tbf, after all what was he? 20 tops? What kid doesn't turn round and go '£50k a week, 5-year deal, why not' when being I'll advised.

Similar story to Rooney really. The lad clearl regrets it, and shoes he's still a blue nowadays, 13 years have been since then, so I can't say I'm angry anymore.

In his playing days he was a right arsehole, so it's sound hearing stories that he's simmering down!

I'm 26 now I never even considered the kids these days. That because I don't know any kids that follow Everton being a Dubliner

Rooney was the one that broke my heart.

Was 8 years old at Goodison when he scored that goal against Arsenal.

Top Balcony, level with the goal line, seeing that ball hit the bar and in.

Couldn't believe it, i'll never forget it. We had an absolute star.

And then he left.

Jeffers was *****.

Had a couple of good seasons, got his transfer that he clearly wanted....went on to prove he really wasn't all that!!

Doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Rooney who was/is an actual real talent who was a massive loss to the club.
