Flairs at the game

What is the point of them?

Sorry i sing and cheer just like anyone else but flares really? "oooh look at us we are clever with our blue smoke".

You know the irony is alot of police forces use them also to hold back crowds as some have correctly pointed out you can't see sh*t and it affects your eyes and your breathing.

The price of tickets these days i want to see the bloody game.

Like Cena said anyway its only a matter of time the football bodies clamp down on this due to health and safety reasons.

There is literally no point trying to reason with you.

Reason with me? We have differing opinions of something and you made out I was a young scally because I like flares.

Perhaps it is you who needs to reason that not all opinions are the same as yours.

Let me ask you a question then. Around thirty thousand people go the match, a lot of them are older Evertonians who have been supporting Everton since before you or myself where born, through good and bad times. Now a lot of these older fans do have breathing and sight problems. Do you think it is fair to do something that will be detrimental to them watching the actual match just because you and the group you are with think its fun?

I go the match with my grandad, he has breathing problems when in smokey areas, and if someone set that off by him, to put it blunty he'd be ****ed. That is not acceptable at all.

There are many other ways to have fun and create atmosphere at the match, setting flares off is not one of them. It's not fun, it's just dangerous and stupid, and childish.

Spot on lad.
Celtic fans and Rangers fans always have a laugh. They don't piss about with these.

How old's your Grandad? Do you ever ask him what he used to do at the aways when he was younger?

There seems to be this obsession among the modern fan that we as fans have to look and sound good, so pre-occupied about how we come across to another set of fans that they forget you go the game to watch the footy and support your team. Who gives a shiny sh!te what some numpty on another fan forum thinks about our fans. The best atmospheres are not your'e premeditated one's, you may as well be chelsea with their flags then. No, they're a result of the circumstances in and around 90 mins of play. Football is not what it used to be, its a changed game on and off the pitch. Accept it. There are things you just can't do anymore. By the way, I love atmosphere and being in the middle of it. I think this post is aimed at the mind set of some fans rather than the point of the thread though so meh...

Look good for our own fans and our own atmosphere. There is NOTHING better than goodison when it's rocking but that happens rarely these days.

IMO Goodison is too quiet and people are afraid to have fun because we have so many grumpy arse fans who literally want to sit there, sing half of grand old team and a rendition of Everton everton etc and go home.

Fulham aside, our ground is one of the quietest unles playing the sh1te or getting a bad deal off the ref.

I am not just on about having flares by the way, just the fact that we have too many fans who want to sit and do nothing all match.

CCTV cameras and the database systems they integrate with are so powerful now that if you are caught red handed by the latest generation cameras then there is 100 percent chance you will be up in court.
