Fernando Torres vs Everton Away

I was at the derby where Torres tore us a new hole. He was unplayable that season. Clear he needs to get away from Chelsea to rebulid his career. There have only been moments of greatness during his time at Stamford bridge but he has made contributions to everything they have won since he went there - including what I believe will be their only ever Champions League success. I wish I had his collection of winners' medals.

Not quite as bad as Jelavic? Fernando Torres at his peak was not quite as bad as Jelavic? You cannot add that 'quite' into the middle there. They were nowhere close.
It's like saying Robin Van Persie was not quite as bad as Jermaine Beckford

It's not like saying that at all. I'm saying Torres was poor "technically" imo but nowhere as bad as Jelavic "technically" who is absolute dog ****.

Read it properly

3 Years ago was without doubt the best Striker in World Football, now, I think Naismith offers more.

Have to totally disagree with you there. For one three years ago he was playing poorly for them lot and would be sold that January to get even worse at Chelsea.

Even before that David Villa was scoring more goals and was top man for Spain too. Torres was excellent for maybe two years, before that inconsistent, and since then well...we all know.

I was always terrified of him whenever derby day used to roll around but I don't believe for one second that Torres was ever a great footballer technically. Granted he was not quite as bad as Jelavic obviously but I can't recall him ever beating a man with skill rather than his pace and often looked a bit clumsy as in heavy touches covered up by his immense pace.

Pace was 90% of his game and now to me he looks absolutely drained of belief, after all he has lost the pace that used to terrify defenders and was also his weapon to get in behind any backline. Once he was in behind his finishing was top drawer but as we all know strikers thrive on confidence and self belief, He doesn't believe anymore.

I think Steven Gerrard was also a massive player in Torres' success, they seemed to always be on the same page and he had confidence Gerrard would always pick him out.

All in all he'll never again be the player he was, can anyone think of a bigger demise than his?

I'm half expecting some absolute punter to chip in with Jelavic and Torres' scoring record over the last 5 years here.

are you serious
he is dead weight on a pitch.
we can ask him for ball boy during the games

Yes I would have Torres at Everton. Needs regular football and a manger who is not up his own hole like Benny or Narcisus.
