...understand Benitez insisted in getting him on the pitch when he was unfit and wonder if this has taken its toll. He was a majestic striker, no doubt in my mind about that and his fall from grace is staggering.
To be honest I think it's grossly unfair to compare anyone to these two. They're breaking all kinds of historical records and virtually everyone is way off their level.Maybe, he just never was that good after all? Plenty of strikers have had wonderful starts to their careers and you cant deny he was superb in his first season at Liverpool. But you could argue that he has NEVER done it at the top level in league football.
Not having a dig at the kopites ( well I am) but Chelsea are the only title contenders he has ever played for.
at Athletico Madrid 21 goals in 40 appearances was his best ever season. Not bad, but compare it to the top strikers in that league ( messi & ronaldo) who most season have a goal a game ratio he is way off their level.
Kopites love to forget he was gash in his last season for them scoring 9 goals in 26 starts in his last season.
Even his Spanish career has been littered with great spells and then baron spells and sulks.
3 Years ago was without doubt the best Striker in World Football, now, I think Naismith offers more.
shut up lad, no wonder they call us bitter blues if you think torres wern't good.
Torres (and jelavic) are proof that that whole 'class is permanent' thing is a load of rubbish.

Not at all. Either player could go berserk and score 30 this season, you just don't know.
Haha. Behave.
Ah. So you know that Jelavic and Torres are finished then?

What odds are you offering on neither of them getting 30 goals this season?
