The fact he could afford to bring in Honda, chadli and say defour and Guidetti in from the felli fee just shows why it wouldn't be the end of the world

I dont think we could mate.

Signing on Fees, Agent Fees, Transfer Fees all together add up.

Its all hypothetical mate obviously, but say ship naismith heitenga and gueye out would probably fetch in enough to cover the majority of fees etc for them, wages similar when factoring in felli would be off and neville and moyes has reduced it a fair bit too, could be right though, thing that makes things more interesting is that unless im mistaken a release clause when met has to be payed that season in full by the buyer not in installments etc, something not factored in as most modern transfers tend to be -payed over a few seasons and with other clauses factored in etc, whereas with felli we would have the full 24 or whatever it is amount up front

Selling Felli isn't encouragement to the names some are bringing up. If I'm a decent player, I'm not looking to go somewhere that's selling their decent players to bring me in.

United sold Ronaldo mate, spurs sold modric, arsenal sold fabregas and the ****e sold alonso and torres, chelsea sold robben, i think you overestimate the importance of one player in attracting others, outside of the english press and us lot who watch him regularly he isnt a massive world name is felli

If thats the case then it would make it more realistic to get more people in with the money I agree.

My only concern with getting rid of the dead wood - the likes of Naismith, Gueye, Heitinga is the effect on the bodies in the squad. Competition for places does improve form. Whether the above actually brings that competition based on how they played last season (and the year before for Gueye) remains to be seen.

Good point though matey

Apart from Spurs, count the number of league titles since the PL era of those clubs...I think you underestimate the importance of club stature to a footballer. You either need to have been places relatively recently or look to be going places. Selling up your most complete midfielder doesn't come off like you're going places. We're at a crossroads these days...have been for a few years.

It actually works in our favour tho.

People see all the players we have brought in and see where they are now, Rooney at United, Lescott at City, Arteta at Arsenal and so on.

Arteta should have softened the blow. That was the one that annoyed me.

Fellaini? I'll be disappointed but not devastated.

If we're aspiring to get into the top 4, we shouldn't give one of our better players to a direct rival. Flog him to PSG, etc if need be.

Agree with that. Problem is if only Arsenal meet the release clause and Fellaini wants to go, there's nothing we can do.

That clause is a bugger and hands some of the power to the player in this case.
