Fellaini wants to leave Everton?

He'll go at some point and if it is next summer then so be it. I like him but he is replaceable. I wouldnt mind him going abroad and to someone like PSG who have money to burn and would pay handsomely for him i reckon as Ancelotti was a big fan of Felli in his Chelsea days.

If we could get £25m onwards for him, that would give us money to replace him (Odjidja-Ofoe - £5-6m) and then money left over to buy a number 10 of decent quality to play in behind Jelavic and give us money left over possibly to sign a striker to challenge Jelavic and a RB.

Unless we miraculously became a regular feature in the Champions League it was nailed on that he was going to leave at some point. As long as we can get top dollar for him, replace him, put a bit away and strengthen our right hand side we can't complain too much.

Thing is the quotes contradict themselves in any case....

"I begin my fifth season at Everton. This will be one of my last. I've seen everything. In January or at the end of the season I would look for another club or league."

"one of my last" implies there could be more than one. "would look" implies that it depends on how things go.

I think one simple word is missing from this quote - which was either mistranslated or murmured or misheard - I'll add it below:

"I begin my fifth season at Everton. This will be one of my last if I've seen everything. In January or at the end of the season I would look for another club or league."

Sentence now makes sense and it's not the same as agitating directly for an imminent move. Besides i think that we all pretty much know, and accept, that if we don't get champions league this season then Fellaini will almost certainly move on. It's just football economics...

"Hey Kevin, turn down Arsenal and come and join me here at Everton, it's boss!"

Two weeks later:

"I'm off, see ya!"

Just don't believe a word of it, to be honest. Simply not worth worrying about, but then again, this is Everton, and we can't exist without having some sort of media-created on-going drama/distraction.

The market has moved on from when we could demand £24m for Lescott. Even clubs like City and Chelsea don't throw money around like they used to. If Felli wants to leave it weakens our bargaining position. Who was the last player that we got top price for? We virtually gave Yobo, Cahill and Yakubu away. It won't be easy getting Martinez style money for him unless a couple of the big clubs are really keen.
Don't forget we paid £15m for him 4 years ago, I'd think we'd want to make a huge profit on him

Were the original quotes in Belgian and just translated by the newspaper?

If so, there's always the possibility that they've been spun deliberately or just a genuine mistranslation. Just saying like..

Look at similar players in his position:

Rodwell £12m
Javi Garcia £15.8m
Song £15m
Allen £15m
N'Zonzi £3m
Javi Martinez £32m

We might get mid to high twenties is someone with a lot of money really rates him. I don't think £30m is a realistic starting point though.

Not much point asking people to look at similar players in a similar position, and then listing names that don't match those criteria. How many of the players on your list there had 4 years left to run on their contracts, were 25 (or less) years old, were established internationals, had no significant injury history AND had five years' experience in the prem (with at least two of those as an established member of the starting 11)?

Javi Martinez is a fair comparison: although he's more defensive he's also younger than Felli.
Javi Garcia only had two years left on his contract;
Rodwell had an injury history and isn't of the same standard;
Allen has one year of prem football to his name;
Nzonzi is not at Rodwell's standard, let alone Felli's;
Song.... six seasons with Arsenal = 140 games, 7 goals. He is exclusively a defensive midfielder and not as versatile as Felli.

Modric leaving Spuds is a fair comparison: despite being older he was arguably a more creative player. Remind me what his fee was?

Expecting Modric/Martinez money for Felli is not only reasonable, it should be regarded as a minimum. We should ask for £40m with a view of accepting any bid of £35m and above. Anyone bids less than £32m, we should sh1t in an envelope and fed-ex it to the club making the bid.

Not going to hate him for wanting to move on, being honest, he is too good to be fighting for 7th place ffs, but if all this is true then im very disappointed. I thought he had a bit more respect for the fans/club/Moyes. If you want to leave, fine, but dont tell the press about it, talk to the manager privately. If a player wants to leave im sure the club would offer him around, rather than the player coming out and showing the club absolutely zero respect.

Couldn't have put it better myself..

To be fair, the Belgian newspaper which ran the story, when asked if it were true, weren't exactly going to turn round and say, "Nah, it's a load of bollocks just to sell newspapers, we made the whole thing up", were they?

Of course they're going to insist the story is true.

The big thing will be if Fellaini denies when he comes back in midweek (which I predict he will do), and the club try to bury the story.

To make the statement he did at the start of the season must mean he will play his ass off for use 15 plus goals and thats his advert to the EPL clubs come and get me 35mill sounds good FCUK I CAN SEE BILLY LIAR COUNTING THE MONTHS DOWN:

Does seem a bit out of the blue this the more I think about it. That said, I'd be concerned if the club didn't make moves to clarify the situation after he returns.
