All I said was I wanted to compare their passing stats, I didn't want to go all bitter like you two have.

Sort it out lads your embarrasing yourselves with your football knowledge.

/sarcasm.

Oh yeah of course, +1 to Manny on that score too.

Also, Manny came from a more fashionable footballing nation. I mean, he has played 4 times for Portugal against the likes of Canada and Armenia, dont you know?

Strange the way he doesn't get a sniff these days as it would improve him, unlike big Fell who will regularly play on the International stage :D

Dont forget Manny has been in jail more times than Screech and of course he has had more clubs than Screech, that must mean he is more in demand

I was really surprised with Fellaini at hull, he put himself about and wasn't afraid to use his elbows to let people know they can't mess him about. I wouldn't say he was a dirty player but he has that side to his game if the game gets dirty he can get dirty too.

Fernandes would've limped off after the first elbow flew in. Or shied away from the match I can't imagine Fernandes dealing with a match like that very well.

Sharpy's obsession with Manuel Fernandes shines through once again.

It'd actually be good if they played in the same position, Fellaini's best football here has come in an advanced position, basically as a second striker. Manny on the other hand plays as a deep lying play maker for Valencia.

Fellaini hasn't proved he can boss and control games in midfield, Arteta has. Fellaini has given us alot in the final third though in terms of hold up play, aerial ability and strength. All this has come as a second striker, in Cahill's position.

As a centre midfielder, Fernandes without a doubt. As a second striker or an advanced midfielder then it has to be Fellaini.

Mate i couldnt disagree more with that assessment, whats with this Fellaini being a second stiriker craic, it surprises me that some of our fans still cant work out the role he plays in the team, he is clearly a box - box midfeilder. Second striker are you having a laugh.

Fellaini has shown he has everything as a midfielder. Toccy beaut, you havnt got a clue what your on about. An once again shown your inept knowlage of football. Lid why not go an watch darts, you might understand that a bit better....

Anyhoo......

No way would i swap the big fella for the watch robber. His drive an passion are a plesure to wach.

We are playing 4-4-1-1 or even 4-4-2 at times, Fellaini is playing as a second striker. In Cahill's old position. He may well be a box to box midfielder but that is not the position he's playing and that's not the position he's impressed in.

When he played in midfield he got critisised by alot of people across the Everton websites, I think we all know that.

Agreed mate, he's playing in the middle of the park and showing his best form. Erm......no he's not actually.

He's playing as a second striker, basically as our target man and drifting off Cahill. It's quite obvious to be honest, anyone who knows a little bit about football would be able to understand that.

Osman, Neville, Arteta and Pienaar are playing in midfield. Cahill and Fellaini are interchanging between forward positions.

I wouldn't swap him for Fernandes either, lid.

Really no contest.

Fellaini isn't in the same class as Fernandes. But in case you thought he was. Fernandes beats him hands down on touch, vision, techinque, etc.... Oh, and he doesn't draw yellow cards at the rate Fellaini does.

I love Fellaini and think he'll be great for us but he's not in the same league as Manny.

Not even close.

Think that sums it up perfectly. Well, at least it does regarding my opinion.

So what would happen if Fenandes came back?

I mean, Fellaini will no doubt be in the starting line-up.

Arteta clearly can't be dropped.

Which leaves three positions for regulars Osman, Piennar, Fernandes and Cahill.

If TB is correct and Fellaini is essentially playing the Cahill role, then Cahill has to go. Otherwise we could push Fellaini just behind Cahill, playing off Arteta with either Osman and Pienaar on the left and Manny on the right.

Seems a bit disjointed, though.

Perhaps we've no great need for Manuel now?

Could still take Pennant, though.

.......Saha/Victor/A.N. Other
.................Cahill
Pienaar Fellaini Arteta Osman/Pennant

Is that crap, TB?

Rephrase the genneral: impressed recently bit, ive been impressed with him from the of, and to be fair so have a lot of people. I agree he has been unfairly criticised amoung a number of football sites including this one but for me those are people who couldnt see his potential or who were just angry about the lack of money that was spent in the summer or the fact it was spent on a young lad yet to reach his full potential rather then the lads undoubhted raw football ability which he has always had for me.

I think your pidgeon holeing to much in a positional sense mate and have taken on yourself to say that playing in the hole is a second striking role, i know you like to think of Cahill as a second striker to when he plays there but not for me. Personaly i dont think Fellaini is playing exactly in the hole, hes in between the two boxes mopping up, making himself available and turing over play defensively and supporting attacks getting into the box with much success i may add. True his attacking game is more atuned then his defensive but hes box to box for me. We are begining to move out of the demarcatuion of roles as in defensive midfeilders, attacking midfeilders we have players in the centre who can do both now with Fellaini and Arteta. Fellaini is box to box IMO.

His hype has kind of hit fever pitch at the mo, its gone full circle ive been a confirmed fan from the off, but where he is in his development he is neither the saviour of goodison nor a yard dog, but is slowly becoming one of the most effective and quality weapons in our armoury.
