Fellaini Has A Big Decision To Make

The fee: not a chance of that going north of £30M. Not for a centre-mid playing for a club outside of the CL.

Increase in tv cash: when has that ever gone hand in hand with a reduction in our overall level of debt?

The coming accounts: I stand to be corrected, but I'm led to believe they wont be great. S'pose we'll find out soon enough on that.

40 million Euro transfer from Bilbao to Bayern, equating to £32.2 million pounds. Bilbao, a team outside the CL when he left.

Getting 4th is a must if he is too stay, that I do believe. As I said yesterday if Modric is going for £33m then I fully expect to be getting the same for Fellaini for me he's a better player than Modric, who to be honest I feel was a tad overrated but that's just my opinion and I didn't watch him week in week out for Spuds.

I do watch Fellaini every week and he is a beast this season no doubt, some of the best performances from an Everton player in a long time.

As others have said If/when he goes I really hope it's abroad but the one big club crying out for a midfielder is Man Utd and I have a suspicion that will be his destination.

Two things:

despite all the fine talk of not having to sell, other clubs know that Moyes is a manager with a boardroom who never have, wont now, and wont in the future invest a single penny into team rebuilding. They know he has to sell to generate cash to wheel and deal in the transfer market. It's a buyers market as far as Everton are concerned. In a world where RVP goes from Arsenal to United for £24M; Hazard goes to Chelsea for £32M; Modric goes to Madrid for £33M, how do we get to £30+M for Felli?...especially in the above circumstances.

second thing:

there's a complete disconnect between what revenue comes into this club and how we operate in the transfer market. Why do you think the issue of other operating costs have caused so much debate in the last few years? In short, it doesn't matter how much tv deals generate, that debt is going to be immovable under the auditing sleight of hand this club adopts.

Length of contract left when player was transferred:

Hazard - 2 years
Modric - 4 years
Van Persie - 6 months

The only player with a comparable contract term was Modric. However Modric was practically refusing to play, thus limiting Spurs' options and practically forcing a sale. Fellaini has said he is happy and has not made any indication that he would force a move. Levy actually rejected a £40m bid, and only accepted the £33m from Real because he didn't really have a choice.

And then there's the fact that Fellaini is a different, and in my opinion more valuable player than Modric anyway. £30m should be the minimum and i see no reason why we wouldn't be able to negotiate that. Us not being a CL team isn't really relevant.

Maybe so. I'd be amazed if Everton broke through the £30M barrier for Fellaini, though. I'm not saying he's not worth it to top European teams, it's more Everton's track record,Lescott aside, of demanding value for selling the crown jewels off.

Yes, context is important. Time left on contracts isn't really cutting it as a good piece of context, though. Players and agents have the power and will just kick up a shitstorm in the media and the club will know they cant ever play them again due to fan outrage at the players' disloyalty. It's not a great bargaining chip for clubs beyond providing them with cover from a player going on a free.

Moyes is,nt worried and neither am I because Moyes will do the right thing with any money.

This is about BIG HAIR ..Stay and see this thing through together as a team or catch the money train out before the job is done.

One club never mentioned is Man Utd.

Fellaini is playing superb as the second striker type at the moment. Dont forget that he's capable of completely dominating the whole midfield, seemingly single handed at times. His best displays for us were still City and Chelski last season where he was central and put the best midfield displays in I've seen. Man Utd need that type of player more than anything in the world right now.

His options are completely open but he's also dismissed his fathers opinions more than once and seems to be looking at the clubs best interests as well as his own.

You've ignored the other aspect he made reference to i.e. if the player has one specific destination in mind & he's trying to limit the selling clubs options down to one buyer e.g. Modric & Fabregas.

Contract length is key to the fee, it ultimately won't stop a move happening if the player has been tapped up & has decided he's going, but the contract length remaining will have a direct effect on the size of the transfer fee the owning club end up with. If it's less than 18 months they're on the back foot, over 2 years & they hold much more power, irrespective of the sulks & strops of the player.

U WAT LAD!!

Oh come on, 30 million+ to spend if he's sold! How many of you actually believe that. 15 of that will be put into Bills secret matress.

I believe it's win-win, he stays, we play in CL and raise the club profile and make extra revenue to bring good players in on top of what we've got, we miss out on CL, Fellaini remains ace, big clubs will be circling we get £35m minimum and reinvest 70% and have another go at qualifying by bringing in at least 3 quality players.

We won't get £35m minimum, it's just not realistic.
