Fellaini Has A Big Decision To Make

I doubt we've even finished paying the installments on Fellaini. Anything short of £30M (and it WILL be) isn't going to lend itself to a post-Rooney/post-Lescott type rebuilding project. If he's sold, it'll be used to pay down more debt (news of that worsening situation in the coming accounts, I suspect). We just get a big gaping hole in a team that cant afford to lose him.

Two massive assumptions based on nothing there imo. Firstly that the fee would be short of £30M & secondly that it would be used to pay down debt, when we're on the cusp of seeing our revenue increase by circa £20-25M overnight, due to the forthcoming TV cash.Your third assumption that debt levels will have increased in the latest accounts is debatable, albeit personally I doubt it.

The fee: not a chance of that going north of £30M. Not for a centre-mid playing for a club outside of the CL.

Increase in tv cash: when has that ever gone hand in hand with a reduction in our overall level of debt?

The coming accounts: I stand to be corrected, but I'm led to believe they wont be great. S'pose we'll find out soon enough on that.

Football people don't think development they think money and the most is where trophies are won.

Much as I'm sure he loves the views of Speke driving into Finch Farm the idea of doubling, trebling his wages might soften the blow as he reverses out for the last time.

Possibly CL qualification might make him hesitate as he zips his suitcase but his insider knowledge of the way the club is run will make that last all of half a second.

1. He's unique, the fact that he's not currently playing in the CL doesn't have any relevance to his value. My point however was that you can't state as a definitive fact that his fee won't be over £30M, it's merely your subjective opinion.

2. You're suggesting that the fee to could be swallowed by the need (or desire) to repay debt, an additional unaccounted for £20M+ landing in the accounts next season removes any 'need' (not that I think there currently is one) & if there's merely a desire this revenue could be also used for that purpose, so suggesting that's where the Fellaini fee would go is merely scare mongering imo.

3. The accounts are never great, but I see no reason why they stand to be disastrous either.

We've always had excuses as to why we've not been in Europe the past few seasons, the slow starts have ultimately hampered us to within a few points of the places we need to be in.

This years different, we're already up there challenging, it's gonna be a test of Moyes & his squads abilities to see where we finish this time round, unless we lose about 18 players to injuries or mitigating circumstances of that nature we shouldn't be bottling it with this squad we have.

The excuses will come out, just like they still do after 10 years of nothing under Moyes, but teams like Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool and Tottenham are there for the f*cking taking, we've got a squad full of f*cking internationals who's ability matches our position in the table, in the words of Delia, let's have ya!

If his new club are after a monster that scares the crap out of defenders then they are in for a treat, if they are expecting some kind of boss defensive midfielder who provides excellent protection of his defence then they won't be.

The forthcoming publication of the accounts will document a reality that is close to being two years old. A lot has changed since then, assets have been sold, the overdraft has been paid back, expenditure may well have been reduced, and we have a load of new revenue coming our way.

So they really aren't going to give us much insight into the clubs finances at this moment in time, they are just going to tell us what we already know, which is the bank called in an overdraft so we had to sell a few assets and try to reduce our expenditure. The great thing is that selling such assets has left us in a stronger position, and not a weaker one.

Two things:

despite all the fine talk of not having to sell, other clubs know that Moyes is a manager with a boardroom who never have, wont now, and wont in the future invest a single penny into team rebuilding. They know he has to sell to generate cash to wheel and deal in the transfer market. It's a buyers market as far as Everton are concerned. In a world where RVP goes from Arsenal to United for £24M; Hazard goes to Chelsea for £32M; Modric goes to Madrid for £33M, how do we get to £30+M for Felli?...especially in the above circumstances.

second thing:

there's a complete disconnect between what revenue comes into this club and how we operate in the transfer market. Why do you think the issue of other operating costs have caused so much debate in the last few years? In short, it doesn't matter how much tv deals generate, that debt is going to be immovable under the auditing sleight of hand this club adopts.

Buyers market at Everton, in relation to Fellaini in 2012/13? As much as I'm sure you'd love to believe that's the case, it's simply not. The player in question is on a long deal & there'll undoubtedly be competition for his signature should he decide he definitely wants to move on, so his value will be defined by his worth in the market, combined with how EFC choose to value him. You're suggesting that previous years necessities to sell to survive are still there & are somehow relevant to future dealings, which is nonsense.

Are you trying to suggest that the OOC's are somehow hiding a fraudulent activity in relation to the clubs cost base?

The forthcoming massive hike in TV revenue will be seen by players agents as an opportunity & they'll look to take it straight to the wages line in the accounts. However, there appears to be a collective resistence among the PL clubs to allow this to happen (again) we need to remain strong & use the cash to either leverage debt for our stadium or allow Moyes to strengthen the side with it.

We will see wht really drives him - cash, the challenge of playing in the Champions League, or playing in the role he wants.

I think he likes playinmg further forward - a couple of times this year - most notably v Leeds - he has seemed a bit sulky and demotivated playing back in a more defensive role. Chelsea will want him to be replace Essien as Mikel and Romeu have not and as someone else has sadid - City have Toure already.

Personally I just hope that when he goes it isn't to another English club

If he goes, and we say for a conservative £25m, we could buy 4 Jelavic/Mirallas', and still give £5m to the banks. Moyes will have his targets in the event of that I have no doubt. Our squad would be much stronger.
