Fellaini- First impressions

They just move on. Carsley showed in last season that he was struggling to keep up with the pace, the fact he has dropped a league proves that.

We need to move on.

Indeed mate, but his loss is still keenly apparent IMO, i know your not a fan of his, but the simple fact is the last time i remember playing this badly and unconsistently was the year he was out injured CL year! Coincidence i dont think so.

He needs replacing still IMO.

Yeah, well you could also say that Peter Reid needs replacing, because since he went we have not looked like getting anywhere near a title.

I refuse to believe Carsley was an intergral part of the machine last season, he looked like a spare wheel against some sides. He was also at fault for alot of goals too Fulham being the one I can remember of the top of my head.

Our best midfielder is what we're missing, Pienaar.

thats getting close to an infraction there ghost.

i thought fellaini looked more comfortable with the ball today and seemed happy to get it as well, he will bed in well soon and hopefully then castillo will as well.
both have been sensational before arriving, fellaini being the main man for liege and castillo got mom i think in an ecuador game on telly, he seemed to be a lot further up field than we have seen so far apart from his goal.
both will come good, its just that our season may be over by then.

That's not the case at all to be honest.

We struggled in the 05/06 season because Moyes bought aload of [Poor language removed] players and injury prone players aswell. He also tried to replace Carsley with a right back (Phil Neville).

Anyone would struggle in that situation, if we'd have bought a half decent player to play in that position (Sissoko/Parker) we wouldn't have struggled at all.

It's quite a poor excuse in my opinion, I agree with Ghost.

Mate its not often i say it, but you couldnet be more wrong!

Agreed.

Think Fellaini will turn out to be very, very good to be honest. Looks by far the most composed player in possession we have and he can only improve.

Agreed.

Also can't believe the suggestion that had we bought Sissoko then things would've panned out any better, the guy is [Poor language removed] useless.

Hes got a lovely touch and his passing is spot on, when he jumps for headers and tries he wins them, at the moment i feel hes lacking, the game is passing him by and he isnt agressive enough.

This will come with experience and age, he will adpat to the premiership and its tough demands, its not a league to be [Poor language removed] footing around in and he will grasp that soon enough. The boy has class, you can see that, i dont doubt for 1 minute that as the season goes on he will start to shine.

At the moment he doesnt look like a 15m player, but we have paid for potential, which is always a gamble, but 1 i think that will pay off, he just needs time to adapt, some players do, Ronaldo has been at UTD for 4 years? Only last season did he start to look the business.

If you think it is because carsley has gone you are way of the mark.
our problem is we have a back four who cannot pass the ball out of defence so when you play the likes of neville or carsley in front of them who also can't pass the gap becomes to big between defence and attack this is why we play it long. carsley was good at running around putting his foot in thats it, he never controlled a game and when in posession usually hoofed the ball staight back to the opposition. If you watched fernades last season and castillo this season they go back and collect the ball and pass it out of defence, thats what we need not carsley back. its not the payers its the manager and his tactics.

It is hard to judge fellaini in yesterdays match as he was up against gerrard and alonso with neville hanging back and cahill pushing forward. to be honest he got the run around by two quallity players.
