i used to say that if it werent for that lukas meff then jo would be the worst brazilian on merseyside. i'm starting to think i may have been harsh on that lukas meff.

jo's 1st touch is the worst i have ever seen from a brazilian, seems if he drags it back he's ok but anything else and he needs a yard exclusion zone around himself. i would seriously check the lads documents as theres no way he grew up doing keepyuppy's on copacabana with a lemon.

Jo was [Poor language removed], theres no hiding it. The Yak also didnt get the greatest service but he was either useful with the ball or just passed it back.

I thought Fellaini was great tonight, he looked like the only one who wanted to win the game in the 2nd half and he deservedly got the goal for us. I also thought Distin was fantastic.

That's because he was playing in the position he played in so well for Standard Liege - when he made Gerrard look like a mug! (y)

Sorry but I think that's complete rubbish. Agard came on and ran around like a headless chicken, which is understandable, he still has a lot to learn. Jo held the ball up fairly well, movement was good, but as keneda said, didn't have any real service. To say that Agard contributed more than Jo is just plain wrong imo.

welton I dont know if you taped the game but a second look will show how poo jo was. In my house we all commented on how jo always loses possesion immediatly and is incapable of holding it up, he wont chase anything and is basically all round plop. Yes there was no service and yak doesnt look 100% yet but ive lost patience with jo now.
ps
please dont watch the game again on my account, just admit youre wrong so we can move on. Im going to bed anyway so i wont see your reply so will just assume that youve seen the light and promise to boo everytime you see jo in an everton shirt again.
amen

Distin has been an exellent signing so far.
Let's see how his legs carry him hrough the season though, and hope he stays injury free.

For me, it was close between Distin and Hibbert, but Hibbert played out of position and was still superb.

I would even go as far as to say Hibbert has been our best player this season, with Saha, Rodders and Pienaar close behind.

Regarding Howard :

Yes, it was a great shot, but if I had a quid every time Howard is standing in a bad position I could afford to go to the away matches abroad.
He is always vulnerable to the long shot as his movement is getting slower, probably because of his age.

He almost cost us again tonight by being too far off his line and nearly getting chipped.

In the box, he is a good keeper, but he really isn't the best positional goalkeeper I've ever seen, and next season I fear will be his last as number one if he doesn't improve, and especially if we get some money.

Regarding Jo:

Tonight I was screaming at him to get up and stop being a nancy boy.
He is in desperate need of extra strength, and really needs to put a few pounds on. I've given him my support right through, but I really don't see it in the guy. He isn't that quick either, and very much one footed.
I'd much rather see Aggard, Baxter, and Arnoux be given a few 45 minutes and see how they go. Aggard was energetic tonight.

Regarding Billy:

He puts in some great balls, but his corners were terrible tonight.

I think he will go on to have a great season, but he doesn't look like the attacking 'run at them' player I was quite expecting, and looks a little slower than expected too.
Good direction to his passes though.

Regarding Baines:

He is really out of sorts at the moment, and I would like to see him rested if possible. He hasn't had a good game by his own high standards all season.

Regarding Yakubu:

He looks quite lively considering, and pleased with the way he has gotten himself back into contention.
Saha is still our number one striker by a country mile at the moment, but I'm optimistic about the Yak. He is a great thinker, and very clever on the ball.

Regarding Fellaini:

Worked his ass off tonight again.
Was played in a more defensive position, but put some important tackles in, and nice to see him on the score sheet. That should raise his confidence a lot.

I can't wait to get Arteta playing with Pienaar and Fellaini / Rodwell / Cahill / Billy / Heitinga / Neville backup. Our midfield should be very strong indeed.

Need to get Pienaar contracted very soon though.

Jo and Yakubu where awful, they made it hard for the midfield today.

To say Jo doesn't offer anything is rubbish to be he honest. He's chipped in with goals for us and lets not forget him winning us the game against Wigan with an excellent bit of play.

Jo isn't a loan striker but a support striker. He played that tonight. But when he's not getting anything from 2 midfielders who weren't creative in the slightest, you have to be a special player to pull something out of the bag in shocking weather conditions and make something. But he didn't give up. So unless he got the hoof ball which was all he got, turned 3 defenders and created something, he's not gonna win any fans is he.

Im in real disbelief that Howard is being had a go at here. That was some goal that.

Really made up with that win, we were down to the bare bones tonight and you can see just how much more experienced we are in Europe now compared to a few years ago. Everyone, despite some being played out of position stuck to their task and were patient.

Some special mentions, Distin was outstanding, commanding and dependable. Hibbert slotted in and done extremely well in the circumstances.

I could go into those who played bad but considering how down to the bare bones we were it would be churlish - so a massive pat on the back to all.

Everton are great on days like this.

Five on the run, and more to come.

I'll check the highlights out tomorrow :P I usually get a bit 'involved' watching in the pub so admittedly my view on the match is probably bollocks! I just don't think Jo is as bad as people make out. But then again I thought Simon Davies was alright...

I feel your pain KB as I too once stood at the Give Jo A Chance Altar, but he really is very weak, and looked fed up tonight, especially when the ref ignored his foul claims. We can't justify his place at the moment with many other strikers available. The profit just isn't there from him so far this season. One good goal doesn't make a striker.

I agree mate. I'm still surprised we won.

Even the players who were gash tonight like cahill and ossie deserve a pat in the back just for the graft they put in.

You could see them all absolutely battered at the end.

If your not scoring, you should at least be holding it up, rain and strong wind yes, but still every single ball bounced off both Jo and Yakubu.

Yak looks like hes lost a load of weight, im very worried, he looks really, really skinny.
