Favourite Film Ever

Great shout that! I saw that movie as a total fluke with my Dad when I was on vacation and we both loved it and still quote riffs from it to each other. For those who haven't seen it, it provided the inspiration for our very own "Donald Twain's" avatar.
The most quotable film ever. We've come on holiday by mistake is a stand - out. That must have made you and your dad laugh at the time!

The new version is what the writer 'supposedly' wanted it portrayed as. It's open to interpretation , as to whether it's better or not but, it's still scary. It is dated in parts and there was some 'lovey' acting but, if that was filmed again with all the latest cgi/effects, I'd love to see it.
There was a tv series made (never seen it) and Friedkin diluted a lot of the 'stuff' that made it effective. There is now though, a new tv series based on the novel, I've got it recorded but haven't watched it, have you?

Yep, been watching it, not bad, but there are huge chunks of cheese in it and a bit obvious, but as a TV series it's ok.

Have you read the book? I always find a huge difference if you read the book first to when you watch the film then read the book, I was 10 or 11 when I read it, knicked my sister's copy. The whole psychological part is what gets me, that angle of investigation, plus its basis in a real case.

The actor who plays his father is excellent. He wins at Scrabble quite sneakily!
Found it on YouTube - Ig, the diminutive from which igloo is formed, looks in the dictionary, ah no, igbo, the language of SE Nigeria.lol just skimming it, there's some other great lines : all the white soups ; they go to a sausage sizzle, we're going to see those bloody churches whether you like it or not - takes me back:(

On 40' for Ig.

Sorry, I replied then realised I had the wrong film.
For some reason, I was thinking of 'Women In Love'.
Or was I? Is there a nude fight scene in either of these?
There certainly isnt one in The Duellists, napoleonic wars two french soldiers duelling 5 times over a insignificant matter of honour that they both forget . Harvey Kietel brilliant as the monster of the piece, Keith Carradine brilliants as the semi hero. Rodley Scott directed based on a Joseph Conrad novella. Watch it! No nudity though

I quite like East of Ipswich, written by Michael Palin. Based on his dreary summer holidays with his parents. An understated 'English' film that many contributors to the Oldies thread would recognise the many awkward and boring situations.
Is That the one Where he meets the Dutch bird.

I recall that on the premise that Igloo is an Eskimo house Ig can be taken to be an Eskimo hall!
