Favourite Film Ever

I quite like East of Ipswich, written by Michael Palin. Based on his dreary summer holidays with his parents. An understated 'English' film that many contributors to the Oldies thread would recognise the many awkward and boring situations.

There was a scene when the mopther enters the house and the lights are flashing off and on and the face of the demon lights up on the cooker extractor. Either that is a deleted scene put back in or I hadn't noticed it before and I've watched it about 30 times :)

The new version is what the writer 'supposedly' wanted it portrayed as. It's open to interpretation , as to whether it's better or not but, it's still scary. It is dated in parts and there was some 'lovey' acting but, if that was filmed again with all the latest cgi/effects, I'd love to see it.
There was a tv series made (never seen it) and Friedkin diluted a lot of the 'stuff' that made it effective. There is now though, a new tv series based on the novel, I've got it recorded but haven't watched it, have you?

Don't hate me but... 2 of my favourite films ever are Grease and Saturday night fever. Saying that I also love The long good Friday, once upon a time in America, Dornie Brasco, get Carter and Carlito's way.

The actor who plays his father is excellent. He wins at Scrabble quite sneakily!
