Here's an idea: win the ball first. But he's played two snail like players today in CM and we had no chance of getting at them and stripping the ball away.

The feller is a 'kin duffer. It's down to him to drill these players he has got and choose the correct players for the game we face.

He's a calamity. How can you offer him any support? He's a moron in football terms.

What do you do? Throw Davies and Benni in? By all means. City would out think both of them.

The front 4 didn't help either as it was a mis-match of legs, brainlessness, and lack of ideas.

But away from that game, if you can name any fit player in that squad that would improve our ball retention and winning...feel free.

Was busy today at work, and was looking forward to the match. But the minute I saw the CM "partnership" that was it for me.

I missed the game as i have done a fair few since Allardyce due to work mate, first time in my life that missing Everton games has had me not even bothered, that's pretty much the legacy of this manager.

How can any manger play those two against De Bruyne and Fernandinho?!

When we had Davies and Benny on we looked hallways at the races at least.

I dunno Dave. Perhaps with injuries he reckoned 2 seasoned pros could do the job?

But when one of those seasoned pros has never been a CM, esp against a quality side, and the other seasoned pro has proved this season the definition of "Pro" is up for debate, well, what can you say?

So who else I guess. Klassen? Tom and Benny? Looks a bit of a problem actually.

The whole team were retaining the ball better last season...and that was under a divvy like Koeman. These are largely the same players. There's no confidence on the ball and that leads to mistakes. That's because we have a manager who hates to lose the ball deep so we never get a chance to build it from the back. THAT is why we are losing possession so much. You need a bolder manager with a game plan to play out from the back, and Allardyce does not want that.

They're not a blend though because the two are too slow. We had to get hold of the ball as well as get on it and play. In the absence of Gueye, Rooney plus Davies should have been the starting CM pairing.

Would have been ok with that. We may well have been beat, no shame in that, they are an excellent football team. But listening on the radio, the dogs abuse that Joey Barton threw at Morgs, well, was astonishing.

I was in two minds: I wanted us to be flying in to them and making it a war; then I thought about Wednesday night and not giving that lot a leg up!

Ross Barkley. Lukaku. Even Gareth Barry.

We've no one anywhere near their level of ball retention, goal threat, ability to pass, comfort on the ball.

That's called balance. We don't have that. We don't have a player who will even pick the ball up off the defence apart from Rooney, who was chastised under Koeman for doing just that when playong futher forward

It's a completely different squad.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce speaking to MOTD: "Manchester City are a top quality team, you have to admire a team that especially in the first half were too good for you. As much as the lads tried it was something we couldn't cope with.

"The real turning point was when we should've scored with Bolasie and gone 1-1 and they scored.

"It was very difficult when they scored, I thought Silva was offside for one of the goals but what can you do.

"We fought, battled, scored and tried to go until the very end. All their 11 are fantastic in that system and that's why they are so far ahead.

We organised a little, but the main message was 'If you're going to press, do it together, if you drop off, do it together.

"That was part of the trouble in the first half, where individual members of the front line pressed and with City's quality they can pass through you.

"We did as much as we could, tried as much as we could and I think that has been the same for every team bar Liverpool."

So :

1. It`s Bolasies fault for not scoring ( credit where credit`s due, he hasn`t blamed him before )

2. One of the goals was offside.

3. They`re better than us, but we tried.

4. The team didn`t do what I wanted them to do with regards to pressing.

5. We`re crap, every team in the league is crap, apart from Liverpool. (he`s telling us to expect a spanking off them too.

To think, there`s some on here, who still think he`s the right man for the job next season :hayee:

That's screening. Ball retention is more about team movement...as Man City just amply demonstrated.
