As I said. Time will tell as to which of us is correct.

At least I admit that my posts are just an opinion. You write as if your words constitute fact which reveals a level of arrogance which is quite galling.

I'm not a Tory and I'm certainly not an admirer of Johnson, but I do believe him to be pragmatic and hope he'll honour the promises made during the election campaign, because quite frankly the country and the North in particular, desperately needs the investment. But I get the impression that people like you would prefer to see the people suffer just so you can say you were right about Johnson being a liar.
Ha ha ha.

Completely gullible.

The man is a proven liar.

Just because you are a liar it doesn't mean that you will lie about everything. Sometimes even liars tell the truth.

So first I'm stupid and now I'm gullible too. Well since Johnson took over as PM, I've been pretty much spot on as regards my calls on Brexit and the election, while most on here were either laughing at me or just simply ignoring me in the hope I got it wrong.

Time will tell to see who's right this time around, but I'm happy to back myself again and you can believe I'm just seeing crescents:)

Best google it, quicker and more concise. In essence I see it as support of a one party state governed by a dictator with a small appendage and fungal growth but as I say it's quite complicated, I might be wrong

It's oddly comforting (and whole lot easier) to believe in the party idea of fascism, I think. I prefer to see it as a bag of attitudes, not all of which may be held by a particular person. It's completely possible to be, for the sake of argument, a white supremacist and pro LGBT. Indeed, I've known a number of such people. It's equally possible to be anti LGBT and have no colour racism. The governments of many Middle Eastern, Asian and African countries bear testimony to that. If it were as simple as being a one party state, then various Socialist countries would fall under that category, wouldn't they?

In my youth I was hugely interested in politics, less so now. I still have a large collection of political books and I would say that the best book by far on this subject I have is Fascism - a reader's guide, edited by the late Walter Laquer of the Hebrew University Jerusalem 1976. (Reprint 1988) it is still available fairly cheaply from ebay and Amazon etc in used copies.

It is a book of essays that comprehensively cover all aspects of the subject, written by notable academics, but is very readable.

From memory my favourite essay was on Fascist Ideology by Zeev Sternhell.

Clearly it predates developments from 1980s to date, but I would highly recommend it.

I think you are bang on certainly in common parlance the term seems a catchall for what most might call "nasty attitudes" which goes beyond " party" and might explain why dullards like me find it complicated ;)
