I’m a firm remainer and I despise fascists but I feel a little but sorry for some of the more reasonable Brexiteers in this situation . Remain had a huge march to show their feeling and it was peaceful and completely reasonable because UKIP has allowed itself to be hijacked by this free Tommy rubbish then I can’t help but feel today that there will be less of a turn out and there is a real possibility of disorder .

On the broader point the normalisation of fascist and far right views across Europe is a real concern and in this country I’m afraid the Brexit debate and debacle has allowed them a rallying point .

TBF this was a fascist march that UKIP has invited itself to, not the other way around.

Also the normalization of fascist / far right views across Europe is a concern and it needs to be challenged, but the problem we have is that our leaders ("the elites", if you will) and their shills seem to actively prefer the rise of the far right to having even moderate left wing government.

Of course this has always been the case, but it is worth remembering the next time some red-faced whopper drones on about the elites.

You know what I mean though . I’m not defending fascists I would never I’m just saying UKIP sliding more pathetically into the arms of the edl type mentality, particularly as Brexit seems to be falling apart , is something I’d find incredibly frustrating if I was of an opposing mindset.

In terms of balance though it was interesting to yesterday hear Alan Sked, the founder of UKIP , heavily criticise the current leadership but also say he felt farage was hugely hypocritical as sked considered farages views fairly similar to SYL and batten and was pretty forceful in saying so.

I posted only the other day I’d heard the quote that farage leaving because of SYL joining is akin to Gary glitter refusing to attend a party because jimmy saville was there , I think the exact quote was a school disco .

Don't think this is fascism, it's more akin to nationalism. Fascism is the enabling system that we've allowed for some time.
Pedantry maybe, but it has to be what it has to be...

When was UKIP not a dustbin full of these types?
