Fantastic Guardian Article

I can handle the "punching above their financial weight" lines but it's the love for Kenwright which tops it for me.

It's part of the narrative to cast moyes and kenwright as david's to the big club's goliath and as much any suggestion that the pair of them are underperforming at their jobs is swept under the rug. Hate those articles so much.

'Aren't Everton doing well? Finishing 7th? Occassionaly beating their betters? Well thats as good as they could ever have the right to want, bless their little souls."

They can't do wrong in some peoples eyes. We could get relegated and it would come out as "financial restraints finally take their toll on overachieving Everton" with a picture of Kenwright crying and getting a standing ovation. Makes me sick.

This kind of abuse is one reason why I'd love to see Moyes with like 20 million pounds a year of investment. He'd destroy Mancini's squad with much less.

Do you really expect us to be challenging for the title at the moment? Until we can match the clubs above us financially there are limits to what we can achieve. It's not patronising it's realistic.

It's a bittersweet article.

On one hand I wholeheartedly endorse anything that sheds light on how above their station City and Mancini are.

On the other hand it makes us sound like we're a plucky little club, like Wigan, surviving against the odds.
