fan apathy in stadiums a concern

In the first half against newcastle we were 3-0 up and zipping it about like nobody's business! I heard a load of noise an cheers during that phase, never heard or seen anything like it in Goodison for a long long time! Bring on taki taki as long as it leads to goals and classy dominance the atmosphere will sort itself out.

Would you be singing and jumping about if you've paid £40 to see your favourite band stumble through a set of boring album tracks?

No, you wouldn't.

If we're playing well (regardless of the style), getting goals or at least sticking it to the oppo Goodison will bounce, first half against Newcastle being a prime example.

If it's a boring arse game (of which there are plenty) it won't happen, simple as.

If I saw Prince do a 45 minute acoustic set of Sadé covers i'd be pretty mild mannered about it, but if he came out to encore with Let's Go Crazy i'd be windmilling all over the shop, keys in hand. Of that you can be sure.

Ticket prices aren't the issue ... we just don't "need" football like we used to. in the clear light of day a January game v. Stoke really doesn't seem like something to be going utterly mental about.

truth in both statements, i reckon.

Maybe some decent and clever new songs would help. We need some originality.

I can't go, but listening on television it's the same old stuff they were singing 40 years ago.

And it's...........we're by far the greatest team.....

Then there's 'One Tony Hibbert, there's only one..., and all the variations on that tune.

I'm bored with it and maybe most the crowd is bored with singing it.

When we were winning shiny pots in the 80s we mostly just sang ere we go, ere we go, ere we go Or sometimes we'd change the words to Andy Gray, Andy Gray, Andy Gray just to keep it fresh, like.

personally I don't think the problem is lack of singing or lyrics. It's lack of ROAR! in the games vs the less glamorous clubs.
