F1 2021

Think Karun Chandok summed it up perfectly, if that was the cars in 10th/11th there would have been no action taken. F1 really needs to stop giving out penalties every time there is contact.

For me, Max is simply too aggressive and has misunderstood the pace advantage Hamilton had.
Max is overly aggressive and bullies other drivers. Hamilton, for whatever reason, has recently took the maturer, safer but perhaps questionable option to yield.

Today, he stood his ground and rightfully so, which meant Max ended up in the wall. Marginally, I'd say Hamilton was to blame but by a tiny little bit at most.

It was a racing incident - nothing more.

Over the years Hamilton has yielded because he was comfortable and almost sure of a win, but this year the gloves are off he knows he’s in a fight, so no more mister nice guy, to see the Hamilton of 5/6 years ago will be great to see. Because of how dominant he’s been over the years drivers have forgotten how competitive he his. when his back is against the wall the old Hamilton will surface, and how good will that be.

Made up Hamilton didn’t back out of that, the media love in with Verstappen over the last couple of years is cringing, Hamilton has broken all records and for some reason is still not given the credit he deserves, one of the great British sportsmen ever, would be an idol in any other country for what he’s achieved.
I would say Hamilton has padded his stats. For me he is an Alonso-level driver, in the tier below the likes of Schumacher and Clark.

Some people need to stop watching motorsport if they think this is some shocking out of the ordinary incident. The level of faux outage is comical. Two aggressive drivers going side by side into a corner where overtaking can happen, neither willing to concede, both expecting the other to concede... [Poor language removed] happens. People claiming it was intentional or dirty act to take him out are delusional.

If Hamilton padded his stats then you have to level that at Schumacher to a certain extent.

Hamiltons team mates include 3 separate F1 champions. Schumachers team mates were Barrichello, Irvine, Brundle, Jos Verstappen etc.

No, because Schumacher went to Ferrari when they were absolutely tripe. That time he was competing in the last day in a well off the pace Ferrari was different class.

In fact, Lewis benefited from the development work Schumacher put in at Mercedes as well. Schumacher also had good battles with the likes of Hakkinen.

That doesn't change the fact he never had a world champion calibre team mate.... with better team mates he would probably have fewer wins, same goes for Hamilton since Bottas has been his team mate. Im not trying to put down Schumacher either and have no problem with people considering him the best ever.

Better teammates my foot. I’ve never seen a driver on Schumacher’s level in my lifetime. He had the speed of Senna and the technical nous of Prost.

Michaels longest standing team mate was Barrichello, a guy he could dominate in the same way Hamilton dominates Bottas.

Barrichello was also outperformed at Brawn by Button, one of Hamiltons team mates.

Another one of Schumachers team mates was Rosberg, who outperformed him... now admittedly that's an unfair comparison because Schumacher was past his best then but still, he was no slouch as shown by his qualifying at Monaco.

Im not trying to crap on Schumacher, im just saying that stat padding can be levelled against him as well. So long as you have a team mate you can dominate the accusation can be levelled, i don't think its fair to do so but you have to be consistent with it if you are going to criticise people for stat padding.

Did we not see the exact same thing yesterday but flip the cars around in the sprint race?

Lewis on the outside and yielded because Max was down the inside??

Is exactly right, just like Alonso yielded against Vettel in 2014. If you have a car on the inside they can't just dissappear and they will understeer into you unless they totally wimp out of it.

I still want to see a replay of Alonso and Ricciardo, as I'm sure at the restart Alonso did the same thing as Hamilton, he too understeered wide and Danny Ric just took a wider but ultimately faster way around and gobbled Alonso back up before they got to the Becketts/Maggots sweeps. No biggy as one driver was sensible enough and in all 3 of these that worked it was the guy on the outside that thought better of it.
