Sprint Qually basically acts as a safety net for teams that cock up normal Qually. Gives them a chance to move back up the grid to where they should be, shuffles the lower teams back if they have the temerity to qualify higher than they should.

Utter waste of time other than to reduce further practises and give those who watch all three days of "Action" something meaningful to watch earlier on.

Is anyone actually in favour of the idea? Haven't seen anything actually positive from fans, teams or drivers. And it's gonna suck for guys who out qualify their car like Russell and LeClerc. I'm pretty sure it'll be dropped before all the planned sessions, much like the last time they tried to change the qualy set up a few years ago.

This is an absolutely critical weekend for Mercedes. If Red Bull beat then at Silverstone then I they may as well hoister up the white flag, mothball this campaign and shift all their focus to 2022. It may sound premature to conceed given we wouldn't even be half way through the season, but I really can't see how they would be able to claw things back.

I think the 3 day race weekend is a bit too long, especially if they're planning to expand the calendar to 25 races.

2 days would be optimal imo - x2 practice sessions on Saturday, Q on Sunday AM, Race Sunday PM

But most of the venues need the 3 days to make it viable for them.

Reveal of the 22 car, full sized model. Not gonna lie, looks sick. Really look forward to what the teams themselves come up with.

They'll look at the rule book and put fins and ugly shaped bodywork wherever they haven't been instructed to leave it as the demo car. If all the cars looked the same then it would just be an engine contest, I don’t trust them.

Oh yeah, the teams will always find grey areas and ways to bend the rules, or find little loopholes. Hopefully there's enough leeway in the design specs to allow a decent amount of variety of design between the teams that it won't be a largely spec chassis. The team that combines the two the best will come out on top.

2022 concept car looks banging, very Indycar.

Shame the real things will probably look a lot worse when they come out.

Gonna be weird watching qualifying at 6pm this evening. I do like the spacing of the weekend a lot more with this format but would prefer it with a reversed grid for the main race based on sprint race results.

seems slightly pointless without grid being shaken up although will be nice to see drivers driving on the limit for an entire race like ye good old days.

Not looking great for Merc. 7 tenths off and its not a fuel thing either judging by Hamiltons radio transmission.

Getting blitzed in middle sector

That middle sector is killing them. 0.1 on first then it’s like half a second in the middle sector. Max is just full of confidence and when your like that you get extra out of the car aswell.
