My stance remains the same, any race is always better than FP3. Just detach it from quali or even better do that AND reverse the grid based on the quali times (which are also used for the grid of the main race). Also increase the points so there are points for the top 10. It would increase the coverage the smaller teams got, make them more relevant and also give them a chance of points if everything goes perfect... on top of this it would be a good platform for drivers in the worst cars to show what they can do to under the spotlight.
Would a reverse grid encourage smaller teams to take the foot off during qualification to get a better position in the sprint? If they rate their chance of points in the sprint over the main race it could come into play.

Definitely like the idea of a handicap based separate sprint though. Maybe start awarding points for qualifying, points for sprint and then more points for the main race?

It'd be a very big step away from tradition and probably full of flaws I haven't considered (and will no doubt be put right on :D) but it'd make the entire weekend count for something and throw a few cats in among the pigeons when you have a season where so many races such as Monaco become dull processions but survive based on the corporate money they generate.

A Monaco sprint with a couple of Haas on the front row would be interesting...possibly a debacle but certainly not dull.

Reverse grids are always going to be open to some kind of shenanigans involving sandbagging etc, it happens in F2 sometimes where the driver in 10th position in the sprint race won’t try and push for 9th because 10th = pole position in the feature race. Generally speaking though it’s not that big a problem as they can’t drive too slow as the positions below are all desperately trying to get into the top 10 in order to start at the front of the feature… thus the racing doesn’t suffer.

Im sure my idea I previously posted has flaws in it but im certain its possible to have two races a weekend and have the overall show be better because of it.

I mean Hamilton trying to drive away after a car landed on his head.
I know but the same argument for adrenaline affecting decision making in the aftermath of the crash could be applied to both drivers in that moment. Regardless of the rights and wrongs of the incident Verstappen had just gone flying through the air in an F1 car and landed on top of another car. I know F1 drivers are wired differently but that's going to get the adrenaline pumping.

If he could see Hamilton still trying to reverse his car then it's not that unreasonable for him to assume he's OK and not go and engage with him while he's still driving, or attempting to drive, his car.

Of the remaining tracks that are scheduled which tracks favour which car in people's opinions? With there only being 5 points in it effectively the title race starts now with Verstappen having a slight advantage. Everyone says Russia should favour Mercedes but after that what about the other tracks? One cancelled GP could swing the Championship in favour of one driver big time. Also whether Perez and Bottas can steal points as well. If a team gets a 1-2 it is a 9/11 point deficit the rivals finish 1-2 it is 6/8 point deficit depending on fast lap. Imagine if it came dien to the driver in 2nd having to make the fastest lap on the final lap of the final GP. That would be an absolute treat.

Think Hamilton blew it at that last lap restart. Smart would have been to take the second place points on a plate.

Yeah that might prove costly as might a couple of tactical decisions on either side. At least this year it should get all the way to the last race except for some freak bad luck for either driver. Next years reset will maybe bring in even more contenders.
