Yet another start where Verstappen gains over Hamilton.

Lewis could lose this championship because he hasn't been able to get off the line as cleanly as his rival

He's not going to find it easy to get past those Mclarens. So pole for Max and 4th for Lewis tomorrow. Very hard work from there to beat Verstappen

Really hope the new cars make it easier to follow/overtake, ridiculous not being able to overtake at Monza unless your car has a huge pace advantage

Tomorrows race is going to be an absolute stinker based on this. Also a strong chance Hamilton loses more places on grid tomorrow as he's starting on dirty side.

Fantastic day for Verstappen, disastrous for Mercedes. They have the fastest car which is not something that has been true most of the season and conspire to start 4th and 20th.

Sprint Qualifying stinks. I hate it.

The idea of a sprint race is fine, they just need to not make it for qualifying positions. That said... in F1 its so hard to follow/overtake that a race with no strategy always runs a high risk of being a nothing burger. Im guessing they are testing with the idea of bringing it in full time next season when overtaking is supposedly going to be easier.

Don't agree, there is not the scope for a good racing in sprint format. Grands Prix are 305km to allow strategy and pacing to play out. Qualifying is designed so that pole is decided on the last run of Q3 - you see in the design how these facilitate the spectacle.

Sprint format is like running the first stint of a grand prix only, basically nothing happens unless a car is out of position - there is not the differentials at play in order to make it exciting.

My stance remains the same, any race is always better than FP3. Just detach it from quali or even better do that AND reverse the grid based on the quali times (which are also used for the grid of the main race). Also increase the points so there are points for the top 10. It would increase the coverage the smaller teams got, make them more relevant and also give them a chance of points if everything goes perfect... on top of this it would be a good platform for drivers in the worst cars to show what they can do to under the spotlight.
