Verstappen walking by Hamilton after he’d just parked his car on his head is very poor form and shows a distinct lack of class. What kind of person does that?

I’m starting to dislike him now. He’s behaving like the spoilt child of a rich family who isn’t getting his way.

To be fair he knew Hamilton was ok because Hamilton was trying to reverse out from under Verstappens car

he actually did stop for a split second then realised he was fine.

Not sure we can talk about class when Hamilton was drowning champers on the podium after putting Max in hospital

Which is fine.

But not liking him doesn't mean you have to side against him everytime.

It's rather petty, but if it helps you through the day I'm pleased for you.
I don't, I think this was 50/50. Hamilton pushed him wider than he needed too. He races aggressively mate so people can't complain when others do too.

To be fair any driver with ambition to be a World Champion and a competitive car has to race aggressively. Without that aggressive streak you're in the Bottas/Barricello great team player bracket.

The trick is knowing when aggression becomes reckless. Hamilton generally gets that right.

Verstappen still has some way to go. Understandable.

What I hope is that if Max does change his engine out and goes to the back of the grid for the next race, then the 3 place penalty goes to the following race. Otherwise it is just pointless.
Although maybe just maybe he gets the message now and realises he is crossing the line with the way he goes about things.

Hmm, well while I agree that it would be a bit of a cop out, the rules are the rules and I wouldn't want the penalty rolled over just in this instance. Besides, an engine change is usually a 10 place penalty for any single component beyond the allotted, but there is an obvious way to exploit this which the FIA and teams teams accept by changing as many components as they want as grid penalties can't be rolled over and you can't start further back than 20th anyway, so there's a cap on the amount you are penalised.

Think the other factor at play is providing Hamilton comes out of Russia ahead of Verstappen in the championship, Verstappen's approach will have to change.
With only 7 or 8 races, cancellations depending, he cant afford anymore DNFs and Hamilton may be wven less charitable in close quarters now.

I think Mercedes and Hamilton just need to focus on their own race and have a clean weekend. They haven't done that very often this season. The Mercedes should be faster in Russia and Lewis needs to maximize any advantage. He's lost too many points for comfort this season due to simply not getting things right at crucial times.

It’s not unusual for people to do odd things when the adrenaline is running though.

You've kind of condemned and condoned his actions after the crash there. :p

The best solution to all this is to just change the rules so there are no stupid “corner ownership” rules. If someone has a nose even slightly alongside the rear wheel then you have to give them space. For years I’ve moaned about how F1 drivers are allowed to close the door or push other drivers off track… for some reason some people are under the impression this is good hard racing when in reality it’s the opposite, it actively kills side by side racing and is frowned upon in nearly all series bar F1. If drivers were forced by strict rules to always give space the battles would be longer and cleaner and the standard of racing would go up as would the requirement for having good race-craft.

So long as you can just run people off track or chop them then you’re going to have average battles that only ever last one corner.
