Everton Youth Teams Thread

Clears that up; must be crap then.
Mathis is the most left field / unknown of the six youngsters we've brought into the U23s this year , no doubt he's being given time to settle in. Never seen anything of him, doesn't look like he played for French youth teams , I know we've got a comprehensive system which apparently keeps tabs on every youngster in the UK,but picking him up as a comparative unknown in France is really impressive ...... if eventually he cuts it.

I guess Leandro Rodriguez has just given me anxiety towards foreign youth signings I've never heard of.

...interesting that Kyle Walker-Peters has made a successful start to his career at RB for Spurs but couldn't get a game for England's World Cup winning team in his favoured position because of Kenny. The Tottenham youngster played LB in that final.

Thinks he's only made 1 appearance for spurs but won Motm. Expect to see more of him as they play more games though. Hopefully the same with Kenny if Koeman comes to his senses

It really is a strange one isn't it. Davies, Holgate and DCL have all been given significant game time by koeman and haven't let us down. Obviously Kenny has trained extensively with the first team squad, just maybe koeman sees faults in his game, but surely he has more 'strings to his bow' as a natural right full back over martina.

...yep, my conclusion as well. There must be something in Kenny's game that RK doesn't like or thinks is high risk.

He has signed a right back and therefore feels obliged to play him, even though he's obviously out of his depth.

..i understand that view but I'm never convinced by it. A manager will play what he thinks is his best team because he's in a results business. He might have convinced himself that Martina is better than Kenny, but if he genuinely thought that wasn't the case I think he would give the youngster a run.

I'm surprised that Kenny hadn't been given a run yet
Maybe the first 5/6 league games and how hard they are has something to do with it
Plus EL group stage qualification was vital so maybe he wasn't risked in that
With Seamus due back in Dec / Jan or maybe earlier time is running out for Kenny to get a run

I do hope Kenny is given a chance this season, and I think he will but, while DCL, Davies, Lookman and Holgate have gotten minutes you can tell Koeman is very conservative with his defense (Holgate at RB an wing back), my guess is he doesn't trust Kenny defensively. I will add that people thinking that Kenny would solve our RB problem will be mistaken. Until we play a shape or a player on the right who helps out defending, then Kenny would be just as isolated as Martina last game.
