Everton Youth Teams Thread

....he's really filled out to look physically imposing. I chatted regularly with a Fleetwood season ticket holder when he was there on loan a few seasons ago. They liked him lots but he was very wasteful in front of goal and suffered with injuries. It might look a wise decision that we have been patient with the lad.
Yep he's certainly filled out, now we have "U23s instead of u21s our policy is more flexible re holding onto youngsters. On the down side, this is his 4th season with us and the harsh verdict is he's been somewhat underwhelming , hopefully this will be a break out season for him.

I noted that Fraser Hornby wasn't in the u18s so was half expecting him to be in the U23s squad but no. Although picked in the Scotland U19s squad the other week he never featured , hope he's not injured again.

..absolutely, I like the look of Hornby and think he might be around the U23s.

One who I always think goes a bit under the radar is Morgan Feeney.

Captains the U23 side at 18, England captain at youth level.

Strong centre back but with good technique. Unsy compares him to Dave Watson.
I was surprised that Feeney wasn't in the England U19s squad recently, as you say he was captain of the u18s, I'm sure he'll be back in again soon. It'll be good to see how the Feeney/Gibson partnership goes . At 18 and 17 it is a young age for such a partnership but a great chance for them to develop together . A bit more physical development needed yet for Feeney though.

We need to appreciate there is a vast gulf in class between playing for the under 23s and turning out for the first team. However it cannot be denied, that Kenny is worth a go at full back instead of Martina. Playing as he has done for the under 23s, for England in the under 20 World Cup and his limited involvement in pre season showed he is ready. I really am baffled as to why this lad hasn't been given more of a chance.

...interesting that Kyle Walker-Peters has made a successful start to his career at RB for Spurs but couldn't get a game for England's World Cup winning team in his favoured position because of Kenny. The Tottenham youngster played LB in that final.
