Non Everton related, but if that's to be believed 30K a week for a 17 year old sounds ludicrous
This kid looks the business though.

To be fair though, the only evidence we can go off is what's happened so far, and that is that loads of young players have been given an opportunity in the first team.My only concern is we've signed all these boss kids, and we've got a fair few who were boss and came through or academy - but if rumour is true, RK doesn't appear want to give them a fair crack.
Which means we're wasting money on assets which will never be utilised at full maturity.

The simple fact is that fans are very quick to jump on the bandwagon about young players without any idea how good they actually are. Last August people were telling me Holgate was a better right back than Coleman, this year they're telling me it's a disgrace that he might play in front of Kenny.
People called Martinez all sorts for dropping the 'potentially world class' Galloway when Baines got fit, but after being unable to fully convince Martinez, he's been totally unable to convince Koeman or Pulis. Almost as if all the hype was just that.
I'm a firm believer that if kids are good enough they'll get chances, and nothing in Koeman's tenure so far has suggested otherwise.
He played 25 games last year. TWENTY FIVE. The lad had only just turned 18 and he played considerably more than half our games, and yet we're using that as an example of how the manager won't give academy players a chance? Consider my mind well and truly boggled.to be fair he seems okay at giving ones we've bought a chance, any that have come through our academy have a serious job on their hands convincing him they're ready. davies was ready long before he actually started him, its not like the midfielders were pulling up any trees last season before he came in.

I think the context is important. I understand he gave Davies a good amount of games eventually but it would have been hard to leave him out after the way he played and the other players he had available.to be fair he seems okay at giving ones we've bought a chance, any that have come through our academy have a serious job on their hands convincing him they're ready. davies was ready long before he actually started him, its not like the midfielders were pulling up any trees last season before he came in.
I know what you're saying, and I was calling for him to get a game before Christmas myself.he didnt start a game until december or january, the team was absolute gash up to then. he should have been in earlier.

In my opinion though, the lad looked like he'd hit the wall by about April. It was an excellent breakthrough year don't get me wrong, but I thought his performance level dropped considerably in the last couple of months of the season. Had he been in the side earlier, the effects may have been more noticeable, and potentially more damaging.
It's things like this that often get overlooked, the manager and coaches have to weigh up the long term pros and cons, the psychological side of things, and the player's physical capabilities, not just say 'oh he looks like a good player, put him in' like we do on here.
